Job Description:

We are seeking a Quality Engineer in our growing Newark, Delaware facility where we produce ceramic composite materials and manufacture products from these advanced materials for the thermal management, defense, industrial, optics and semiconductor industries. This role works closely with our internal production teams as well as customers and vendors to ensure our highly technical products meet unique customer specifications.Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesCollect, review and analyze data collected within inspectionCreate, post and communicate metrics Participate and contribute in meetings focused on improvement to product and processPerform audits and communicate findings to area or process ownersDocument findings for traceability, using corrective and preventive actions as necessaryPerform all CMM programming activities including Calypso, PCDMISProvide training, coaching or discipline for inspectors or operatorsRevise and create programs as required within a timely manner to support legacy and NPIEnsure accurate and timely records, reports and metricsComplete special projects on timePerform supplier audits as necessaryInitiate, implement and track corrective and preventive actionsCompany policy is followed regarding all safety, environmental and ergonomic requirementsResponsible for maintaining proper housekeeping standardsWork with customers and suppliers to create a "win-win" business relationshipManage supplier corrective actionsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Quality, Engineering or related technical fieldMinimum 2 years of experience in Quality Engineering within a manufacturing environmentPrevious experience with SPC requiredPrevious internal audit experience required, Audit Certification desiredPrevious CMM programming experience strongly preferredExperience with statistical analysis software, such as Minitab preferredExperience with problem analysis and resolution Experience with networked PC based computer system (MS Office, MS Access, MRP systems, etc.)SkillsUnderstands quality principles with a knowledge of ISO 9001 and key aspects of a 9001-based QMSSix Sigma Green Belt preferredCQE preferredLean manufacturing preferredAbility to think critically and to reengineer inefficient paper-based systems towards automation Ability to handle multiple priorities involving external and internal priorities Demonstrated ability to achieve results independently or working with others Ability to recommend and implement improvementsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to excel in a cross-organizational, cross cultural, global team environmentHandle special assignments promptly and professionallySet a high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and competencyOrganized, self-motivated, and capable of working independentlyDue to ITAR compliance, this position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)Working ConditionsOffice and manufacturingPhysical RequirementsAbility to occasionally liftpushpull up to 50 lbs.Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facilitySafety RequirementsAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
