SummaryBascom Hunter provides solutions to the Department of Defense (DoD) and Aerospace markets in Environmental Control Systems and Defense Electronics. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a talented Senior System Administrator to join our team and play a key role in maintaining our IT infrastructure, providing technical support, and ensuring compliance with NIST 800-171 standards.The Senior System Administrator will be responsible for managing and supporting our organization's IT systems, networks, and assets. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and expertise in NIST 800-171 compliance requirements. As a senior member of the IT team, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders, implement best practices, and contribute to the overall success of our IT operations. The role will report to the IT Manager. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Job DutiesInstall, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and network components, including servers, workstations, routers, switches, and firewalls.Monitor and optimize system performance, reliability, and security to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency.Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users, resolving IT-related issues in a timely and efficient manner.Administer user accounts, permissions, and access controls in accordance with security policies and procedures.Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and patch management activities to identify and remediate security risks.Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with NIST 800-171 standards and other regulatory requirements.Develop and maintain documentation, inventory records, and technical diagrams for IT systems and configurations.Plan and execute IT projects, upgrades, and migrations, coordinating with cross-functional teams to minimize disruptions and ensure successful implementation.Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in IT management and cybersecurity.Mentor and train junior IT staff members, sharing knowledge and expertise to promote professional development and team collaboration.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+) preferred.Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or related roles, with a focus on managing IT infrastructure and providing technical assistance to end-users.Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking protocols, and security principles.Experience managing Active DirectoryEntraM365 environmentsExperience managing MDM solutions (Intune or other solutions)Experience creating and maintaining PowerShell scriptsExperience with data protection technologies (Veeam or other solution)Experience with NIST 800-171 compliance requirements, including familiarity with security controls, policies, and procedures.Proficiency in troubleshooting common IT issues, diagnosing hardware and software problems, and implementing effective solutions.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with users at all levels of the organization.Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and methodologies as needed.All positions at Bascom Hunter are subject to background investigations.
