Job Description:

Valcor Engineering is one of the largest and most recognized suppliers of fluid control products in the aircraft, aerospace and military fields. We specialize in the design and manufacture of Solenoid Valves and control components for liquids and gases in critical application in the aerospace, nuclear, light industrial and scientific industries.As a Machine Shop Supervisor, you will direct the work, people, and results in a machine shop. Layout parts, machine setups to construct, alter, modify, and repair experimental pilot models. Train employees, set goals, organize, and assign work. Maintain a productive and motivational climate.Job ResponsibilitiesPlan, direct and supervise the layout of parts, machine set up and operations to involve in revising of available machines and tooling for special adaptations and such bench assembly and finishing operations required to fit, assembly, align and calibrate experimental projects for testing.Responsible for the precision accuracy as specified by engineering, timely production, and production anize and assign work to utilize skills, knowledge and experience, available man hours, machines, and tools to obtain the most favorable costs and quality of workmanship.Provide instructions, guidance and assistance and maintain close surveillance over set up procedures, machining, and bench operations, including the interpretation of specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers.Analyze and diagnose machining and tooling problems, machine malfunction, etc., to expedite and coordinate corrective procedures to prevent excessive downtime and interrupted schedules.Police use of safety devices and equipment, general housekeeping, and maintain a consistent alert for hazardous conditions and practices.Maintain an adequate and efficient work force in accordance with skill requirements, work levels and schedules, man-hour and training programs.Maintain conformance with rules and regulations, issue violation warnings and administer approved disciplinary measures when necessary. Participate in labor relations procedures as stated contractually and as directed.Participate in the job evaluation program to provide information, job analysis, descriptive matter and to evaluate jobs in the departments. Appraise employee performance and recommend wage adjustments or change of status.Assist and provide recommendations concerning procedures, personnel, equipment, or other improvements that may better the overall effectiveness of the company.Work within the team to ensure accurate and timely response to customer requirements.Qualifications8+ years' experience as a first-class machinist required with the demonstrated potential to communicate knowledge of machining and machine shop practices to subordinate workers and maintain harmonious working relationships among workers.High school or vocational school graduate required plus a formal apprenticeship to attain journeyman status or equivalent trades training.Works closely with the manager to assist with andor implement such programs related to work simplification, cost reduction, new tooling, and methods, man our planning, machine repairing and maintenance.Work closely with employees and guide staff involved in the fitting, adjusting the manufacturer and machining of parts, valves, and tools.Collaborate with engineer in charge of research and development, supervisor of the testing laboratory, to provide information on matters relative to design, material simplification, testing devices and fixtures, cost estimates etc., when required.Special courses related to supervisory and administrative procedures would be beneficial.
