Do you wake up thinking about M3, whether private equity's carried interest loophole will survive the next election cycle, and the dot plot? Do you have a passion for breaking these concepts down with robust analytical rigor in a way that is also creative and engaging? Experience as a financial, markets, or economics reporter is a plus, but not required. What is required is a deep passion for all things finance and a desire to tell unique stories that appeal to a sophisticated and savvy audience. The ideal candidate will be hungry to become a personal brand in financial journalism.Responsibilities:Plan, write, and edit our daily newsletterEnsure timely and smooth publication of informative stories with clear reader takeawaysSocially native, with a desire to build a personal brandMonitor news services and and alert our editorial team to breaking storiesProvide insight and analysis into what's happening in the world of business, finance, economics, and investingDemonstrate expertise and dominance on the beatUpdate elements of our website pagesCollaborate closely with the editorial team and work seamlessly across all departments of The Daily UpsideRequirements:Attention to detail and strong writing skillsExcellent source network and ability to create new onesWell versed in a wide range of financial products and accustomed to describing financial markets, products, and economic activity in clear, direct languageExperience generating compelling analysis, enterprise story ideas and other content that distinguishes a publicationStrong reporting skills and comfort working in a fast-paced news environment and on deadlineAbility to break news and create conceptual scoopsBackground in understanding local, national, and world news coverageA passion for the media industry and great journalismA demonstrated interest in business reporting is a plus - extensive knowledge of financial trends, concepts, and terminologiesBenefits:Competitive salary and commission structure.
