Job Overview:As a Multifamily Energy Advisor you will be responsible for working with multiple stakeholders to assist FirstService Energy and FirstService Residential continue to provide our value-add energy services to clients. This individual will work directly and indirectly with properties and property managers to advise on strategies to reduce energy consumption, costs, and greenhouse gas emissions and will be responsible for driving carbon and cost reduction in the FirstService Residential NYC Region.Your Responsibilities: Lead NYC region as the subject matter expert on all energy-related matters.Calculate building carbon emissions based on co-efficients announced by NYC and NYS or national standards as they are made available.Conduct and coordinate quarterly trainingwebinars related to energy and building operations for managers and building staff.Carbon reduction, technologies, local ordinances, energy purchasing on an annual basis.Work with FirstService Energy and FirstService Residential marketing teams to create relevant topics for publications and other P&R related needs.On an annual basis review EnergyStar Portfolio Manager, EnergyCap, and other datasets to create a target list of buildings for advisory services.Meet with managers and board members regularly to guide and assist with carbon and energy reduction strategies and timelines.Lead as a subject matter expert on NYC and NYS energy regulations and advise board members and internal teams. Including but not limited to; LL97, LL87, LL88, LL84, and NYS CLCPA.Conduct building walk-throughs as requested and develop recommendation reports.Verify building typology information as needed for analysis and cataloging purposes.Develop high ROIprescriptive measure incentive program in the market.Meet with boards to review and present FirstService Energy Report Cards and other audit reports.Develop new local vendor partnerships for energy project implementation.Assist with FirstService Residential new business meetings and walk-throughs as requested.Attend board meetings as requested (often at night and in-person).Assist and attend special events.Build relationships with clients and property managers.Drive procurement sales in the market.Service as the in-house energy expert for Ad Hoc requests as needed.Partner with municipalities and other NGO to further network within the region.Assist with special projects as requested.Provide expert local advice on energy related matters.Work with marketing team to develop education pieces and content for clients and associates on energy topics.Present monthly progress reports to leadership team and track progress of goals.Prepare quarterly presentations to the NYC regional president on general market updates, the portfolio's carbon reduction progress, incentive program participation and client cost savings.Skills & Qualifications:Must have a passion for reducing energy, water, and carbon emissions from buildings.Experience as an energy manager with expertise in reducing carbon emissions in multifamily buildings.Ability to calculate energy and carbon savings on projects.Able to work in person in the NYC office 3 days per week. The other days the associate will have the option to work remotely pending performance and targets being met.Able to travel to buildings in the region as needed to conduct field work.Ability to stand for long periods of time for walk-throughs and presentations.Undergraduate degree in a related field (sustainability, engineering, energy management etc.).3-10 years' experience working on energy auditing.Must have a strong understanding of building mechanical systems (cooling, heating, DHW & distribution).Must be available to attend evening board meetings and special events after 5:00 pm.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Advanced knowledge of excel and data analysis.Experience working with EnergyStar Portfolio Manager and other energy related benchmarking platforms.Strong working knowledge of building science theory, multifamily operations and maintenance.Strong virtual and in-person public speaking skills.Strong understanding of local laws related to energy and carbon reduction and able to translate information to others.Thrives on finding solutions and presenting ideas.Able to interpret utility data and calculate energy and carbon savings.Working knowledge of how utility and state incentive programs work.CEM or other related energy manager certification.BPI, LEED O&M, Gpro Certification, WELL AP preferred.Experience with EnergyCap software, Tableau, PowerBi preferred.What We Offer:As a full-time exempt associate, you will be eligible for full comprehensive benefits to include your choice of multiple medical plans, dental, vision, life insurance, short term disability, legal, and identity theft.
