MS Dean Associate2024-2025Classification Exempt, 10-Month EmployeeReports to MS PrincipalOverviewThe MS Dean Associate is responsible for assisting and supporting the MS leaders with implementing the norms of conduct as they relate to the safety, behavior, and discipline of the students.Upholding Systems and ComplianceAssists in upholding school expectations, clear systems for arrival, lunch, recess and dismissal in collaboration with the MS Principal and the dean teamSupports in student transitions to help the school community travel safely throughout the hallwaysDocuments and maintains organized databases and up to date student information on attendance, discipline, and records Meets within the dean-department to discuss school-wide issues, trends, and upcoming eventsFostering Positive Student Engagement Promotes positive discipline behaviorAids in the systems that support Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and Restorative Practices with fidelityEnsures a high achievement cultureFollows the guidelines presented in the Dr. Izquierdo Charter Schools Scholar HandbookConducts restorative conversations between students who have experienced conflictTakes lead when applicable at student town halls and assembliesCreating Strong Culture and CommunityAssists in the safety and well-being of the studentsMaintains and monitors safety and order by being accessible and visible in hallways, classrooms, during arrivaldismissal of students, lunch periods, after school programs, dean's office, detention, etc.Works closely together with colleagues to ensure consistency and discipline across the schoolCommunicates with families positively to help deter misbehavior and focus students on the right pathSupporting InstructionMay take an advisory class of scholarsSupports the vision of the Dean and Leadership in executing activities assemblies initiatives that bolster student engagement and school cultureSupports in enforcing classroom management best-practices school-wideAttends grade team meetings as needed, based on scholar behavioral trends and academic needsCompletes any other tasks or duties as assigned by the MS Principal and the Leadership TeamQualificationsBachelor's Degree, or on trackMinimum of two to three years of related experienceExperience in a school settingBilingualSpanish a plusSuccessful experience in communicating with parents and studentsSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNonePosition Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time 10 month position.
