Our team is also dedicated to serving our community through initiatives like company-wide beach clean-ups and volunteer opportunities.SUMMARYThe Assistant Director of Engineering ("Subdirectora de Ingenierí­a") oversees budget management, capital expenditures, and maintenance initiatives, with a focus on safety and asset protection. Responsibilities include assigning and tracking work, ensuring effective communication for guest and employee satisfaction, and supervising maintenance activities. The role involves troubleshooting and repairing various equipment to minimize downtime and inconvenience. Overall, the Assistant Director contributes to the organization's operational efficiency through strategic management and technical expertise.PAY & PERKSCompensation: $85,000 - $100,000 DOE**Discounted Hotel Rooms for you, family and friendsFree Employee Parking andor discounted MTS Pronto cardFree Meals & Refreshments during working shiftsCareer advancement opportunities!Health (including SIMNSA), Dental, Vision, 401k with match, life insurance, sick and vacation time.Discounts on cell phone bills, shoes, gym memberships, and more!ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Assists in supervising the day-to-day operations of Engineering and related departments.Contributes to overseeing the maintenance of the physical infrastructure, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety systems.Assume control of the Engineering Department when the Director of Engineering is unavailable.Directs and assists workers in the maintenance and repairs of the property.Handle various administrative tasks within the maintenance department.Work with third-party vendors to obtain quotes and service agreements and coordinate work.Monitors timeliness and quality of completion of repair work orders.Ensure projects are completed on time and according to specifications by studying work schedules and estimating worker-hour requirements.Schedule engineering staff for routine maintenance, covering tasks such as painting, plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC functions.Responds to emergency situations during normal working hours or after hours as needed.Troubleshoot and repair various equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, with minimal downtime and inconvenience to guests and staff.Ensure the recording and retention of equipment and utility meter readings daily.Maintain files for Material Data Sheets and train engineers in emergency procedures.Perform work within departmental expense plans.Identify health and safety hazards, conduct safety training, and ensure compliance with government safety and environmental regulations.Supervise contractor activities during and after repair and follow up with contractors for additional repairs when necessary.Provide building security, respond to emergencies, and assist in evacuations if needed.Assists in effectively planning, scheduling, and evaluating preventive maintenance programs.Identifies external service needs like painting, repairs, renovations, and equipment replacements, seeks proposals, and submits to the Director of Engineering.Selects, submits for approval and orders purchases new equipment, parts, supplies, and other materials needed to maintain the Resort.Attracts, retains, motivates, trains, empowers, and holds accountable the staff in the Engineering Department.Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.QUALIFICATIONS2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related major.At least 3 years of experience in the engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-Relectricalplumbing.A combination of experience, education, andor training may be substituted for either requirement.Previous similar position in a hotel, or similar business entity preferred.Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including the entire shift, and lift andor move up to 100 pounds.Experience in dealing with the public is preferred, such as retail cashier, food industry service, guest service with public contacts, etc.Requires advanced knowledge of building maintenance and engineering.Previous experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC-R, and kitchen equipment preferred.The following position will be filled in accordance with the process set forth in California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq.**The pay scale posted is the salary or hourly wage range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for the position during the first year of employment.
