Electrical work may be performed in a number of areas including heating, refrigeration, motors, fire alarms, and generator equipment. Work involves technical application of electrical principles. Performs other related tasks as required.Principle Areas of ResponsibilityInstall, service and repair lighting fixtures, electrical panels, outlets and wiring.Operate power hand tools and other specialized electrical stall, repair and service specialized electrical equipment and machinery.Construct and maintain service equipment.Read electrical circuit diagrams.Requisition material and supplies from stockroom; call vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies, and recommend purchases and suppliers.Transfer primary power from one power source to stall conductors, splices cable, build terminations and do necessary hookup for primary power lines.Set poles, strings overhead lines and do overhead line maintenance.Lay underground conduit for electrical lines and install low voltage electric lines and conduits for telephone systems.May do other trades work incidental to electrical work.Supervise other regular employees during a minor portion of the employee's work time; duties include assigning and reviewing work.The Skills, Knowledge And Abilities We SeekKnowledge of electrical theory and methods, materials, tools, equipment and systems used in the electrical trade; thorough knowledge of NEC 2008 and regulations pertaining to the electrical trade; inspection of, identification, and knowledge of all electrical distribution systems (24-12K volts); methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment; safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment.Four years as a licensed, journeyman-level wireman in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting.Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.Ability to complete the following training as required: forklift operation certification; lock out tag out, fall arrest, confined space, MSDS, asbestos and lead identification, ladder safety, emergency evacuation, OSHA and respirator training.Perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades.
