Job Description:

Responsibilities:· Performs drivers' safety evaluation ride checks, observation of drivers while making their runs, and prescribes the necessary retraining;· Maintains radio and telephone contact with transit vehicle drivers and coordinates service provision· Responds to service problems including rerouting and passenger events with the goal of restoration of interrupted service· Investigates accidents and incidents· Directly supervises drivers, responsible to lead, coach, and discipline drivers up through the Written Warning level of progressive discipline· Provides relief to service provision by driving in revenue service if required· Reviews and investigates Drive Cam video, and applies the appropriate interaction with the driver in accordance to established policies· Provides leadership to the operations employees by demonstrating safe work behaviors and following all company rules and policies· Investigates and responds to situation reports and potential unsafe locations; making reports and recommendations· Effectively communicates with management personnel regarding operational or safety issues or concerns and coordinates efforts toward their resolution· Provides passenger assistance to drivers· Coordinates with departmental managers to address roadside problems· Prepares and maintains reports and performs clerical activities associated with operations· Assists the Safety and Training Manager in the administration of the company's Drug and Alcohol testing and Work Comp programsSupervises staff and responsible to direct, coach, discipline, retrain or coordinate retraining within established guidelinesDocuments employee actions within established guidelinesWorks in cooperation with other managers and supervisors to ensure seamless, safe, high quality service to passengersEmbraces Transdev's safety vision; adopts and employs the company's safety rules, policies, and procedures; effectively communicates safety and on time service expectations to driversAssists in the investigation of passenger comments and other matters in close coordination with othersProvide oral and written reports, statistics, data and information internally and externallyMaintains complete confidentiality of all informationAdditional duties as assignedQualifications:Education, Licensing, and Certifications:High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, requiredCDL Class C, B or A licenseExperience:Two years' experience as a Driver or Supervisor for public transportation servicePrevious paratransit driving and supervision experience preferredSkills and Knowledge Required:Ability to drive paratransit vehiclesAbility to apply progressive coaching and discipline consistently, timely and in accordance to management's direction and the terms of collective bargaining agreementsAbility to read, understand, and interpret transit system operating rules, regulations, policies, phases and routesWorking knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programsStrong written and oral communication skillsAbility to interact professionally with internal and external customers on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups· Must be able to take a leadership role in solving problems· Must demonstrate satisfactory technical knowledge· Must be able to pass an employment physical examination (pre-employment) and substance abuseTravel requirement (as a percent):  Pre-Employment Requirements:Must submit to drug testing and a criminal background checkMust be able to maintain a DOT medical cardPhysical Requirements:Ability to work shifts or flexible work schedules indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilitiesPeriods of sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen in an office or in a cubicle spacePeriods of walking and standing outside during operations' eventsPeriods of sitting behind the wheel of a vehicle while drivingThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
