Job SummaryUnder the direction and supervision of the Occupational Therapist, provides occupational therapy services to patients/clients to assist in improving basic motor functions, reasoning abilities, compensating for permanent loss of function by teaching patients/clients to perform tasks in their daily living and working environments. May provide treatment to patients/clients with cognitive impairment, psychosocial dysfunction and physical disability. Assists with patient/clients and caregiver education.Essential FunctionsAssists Occupational Therapists in providing therapy to patient/client. Participates in the preparation and execution of the patient/client's overall plan of care.Provides a treatment program as planned, delegated, and supervised by the Occupational Therapist according to agency policy to restore and return maximal function to the patient/client. Assesses the effectiveness of treatment and modifies treatment methods under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.Documentation for each patient/client is in compliance with department standards, medical-legal, regulatory and reimbursement procedures. Ensures that required documentation for activities within areas of responsibility is completed in an accurate and timely manner.Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Attend and participate in interdisciplinary conferences to coordinate patient/client care.
