Medical DirectorReq number:R1741Employment type:Full timeWorksite flexibility:HybridJob SummaryAs the Medical Director, you will be responsible for providing expert medical consultation, medical interpretations, and/or medical recommendations regarding clinical practice issues in health care facilities.Job Description We are looking for a Medical Director to provide expert medical consultation, medical interpretations, and/or medical recommendations regarding clinical practice issues in health care facilities. This position will be full-time and hybrid.  What You'll Do Provides expert medical consultation, medical interpretations, and/or medical recommendations regarding clinical practice issues in health care facilities. Participates with the Secretary, deputate, bureau and division staff in quality improvement activities to define or interpret key indicators that can denote trends and measure outcomes of care quality, review and analyze data, and make recommendations to enhance the regulatory role of department surveyorsProvides medical consultant to staff on a variety of clinical conditions, medical contraindications and adverse reactions.Reviews, advises, and recommends changes to statues, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines affecting delivery of quality care in facilities to conform to current standards of medical practiceWorks collaboratively with the and QA program staff to provide scientific and clinical input for regulatory development from initiation to implementationParticipates in intra and interdepartmental committees and work groups as requestedParticipates with other central office physicians in environmental and epidemiological investigations as they affect health care facilities regulated by the departmentIf assigned, emergency assignments may be performed under adverse conditions and continue for periods ranging from a few hours to several weeks What You'll Need Required: Experience reviewing records to assist surveyors regarding clinical services, reviews and analyzes medical aspects of exceptions, monitors data collected by surveyors and identifies trends that should be addressed with the health care facilityExperience reviewing potential survey deficiencies to determine if appropriate and current medical practice protocols were followed in the facility. Conducts trend analysis on deficiencies, makes recommendations on sanctionsExperience providing witness testimony and written reports for use in litigationExperience providing clinical expertise when requested or necessaryExperience providing medical advice on issues specific to special populations served by health facilities such as those in nursing care facilities or intermediate care facilities for the intellectually challengedExperience monitoring quality indicators in the Minimum Data Set (MDS) and Outcome and Assessment infotmation Set (OASIS) to evaluate resident/patient health statusPreferred: Experience monitoring reports by health care facilities under Chapter 51 of Title 28 Health and Safety of the PA Code to identify outliers in quality care.
