Everybody is somebody here.   Representing the very best in healthcare, UT Health East Texas is comprised of 10 hospitals and more than 50 clinics across east Texas.  With nearly 7,500 employees and over 1,000 licensed in-patient beds, UT Health East Texas provides healthcare services to thousands of patients annually through our hospitals, clinics, Level 1 trauma facility, air emergency fleet and EMS service in a metropolitan service area of a quarter-million people.        Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY:   Delivers radiation therapy treatments to cancer patients as prescribed by the physician and directed by the physics department.  Lends emotional support to patients and family.  Responsible for supervising all phases of student clinical rotations.     DUTIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Delivers radiation therapy treatments. Performs manual calculations. Fabricates custom shielding blocks. Able to perform Q.A. checks adn warm-up Linear Accelerators. Maintains constant communicationwith patients and family members to lend support and provide information concerning treatment. Ensures that all efforts are directed in constantly improving customer (e.g. patient and physician) satisfaction.   SUPERVISION:   Responsible for supervising students during clinical rotations. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:   EDUCATION: Graduate of an approved school of radiation therapy technology or a school of radiologic technology and one year radiation therapy program.     EXPERIENCE: No experience required; two years of experience preferred.     CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: Must be registered by the American REgistry of Radiologic Technology in Radiation Therapy and licensed by the State of Texas.     SKILLS: The operation of linear accelerators and imaging accessories in teh delivery of radiation therapy treatments to specific sites as prescribed by the physician and directed by the physics department. An understanding and application of basic dosimetry and mathematics to include bsaic algebray and geometry. Computer skills to include but not limited to MOSAIQ, Iview, Epic, Winwows files & folders, Microsoft Office, Rad Calc, Syngo, PACS.   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift, push, and/or pull heavy objects and to constantly walk, stand, bend, reach, and/or stoop Ability to perform a full range of body motions including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye/hand coordination Ability to see and hear to normal range with correction Ability to wear lead protective devices for extended periods of time Ability to work under stressful conditions and to work irregular hours ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Exposure to infectious disease on a constant basis. Exposure to ionizing radiation on a frequent basis.
