We offer you a challenging and rewarding work environment where you can contribute to the success of over 30,000 Nucor teammates.Basic Job Functions: Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.Provide leadership in plant safety and operations on a day-to-day basisEffectively lead the metal recovery team.Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customersEstablish production work schedulesProvide leadership in people development activities such as hiring, training, developing and coaching staffServe as a role model; support and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental policies and practicesSupport manager in long-range planning and budgetingWork closely with commercial team to keep them informed when nonferrous commodities need to be soldConduct monthly inventoryHands on leadership approach in working with teammatesMinimum Requirements:High school diploma or GED requiredBachelor's degree in business, management, engineering or related field or a minimum of 3 years management experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environmentSafety OrientedExperience in, operations or manufacturing with heavy equipmentExperience in scrap processingPreferences:Knowledge of inventory management, shipping and receiving material using lean manufacturing principles is a plusElectrical/Controls experienceProven ability to communicate with all levels of customers and internal contactsGood verbal and written communication skillsSkilled and experienced with personal computers, software, spreadsheets and databases (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)Ability to plan, manage and prioritize work; adapt to a changing environment; strong organized approach to workDemonstrated skill in initiating and managing projects; building and leading a project team Benefits SOME OF THE BEST BENEFITS IN THE BUSINESSMedical and dental are just the beginning.
