POSITION PURPOSE • Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Patient Support Specialist performs tasks for patients, assists with the collection of patient data and performance of selected procedures, and performs activities in the department to promote comfort, safety, and a positive patient and staff experienceComplies with established standards and procedures.MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED • High School or Equivalent (GED) or completion of 11 of 12 years of high school education with anticipated graduation within 12 months.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED • Entry LevelLICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED • Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 12 weeks of hire.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED • No prior experience required.  Training will be providedPRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1Under the direction of the nurse, perform patient care, treatments and procedures/activities within training and competence level. 2Provide the patient assistance with activities of daily living such as feeding ambulating, turning, and positioning. 3Promptly and courteously respond to patient call lights and provide the patient assistance within the scope of the position. 4Routinely and consistently conduct patient care rounds and observe patient activity, notifying the nurse immediately when a change in patient condition is identified. 5Accurately and promptly document patient care activities in the medical record. 6Recognize the occurrence of life-threatening situations and emergencies and take the appropriate actions in a timely manner. 7Clean, organize, and restock the department work area and patient supply locations and evaluate supplies for integrity and expiration. 8Clean patient rooms and care areas to facilitate patient movement. 9Complete all assigned education, training, and learning requirements within the scheduled time frame#cbFroedtert South is a comprehensive regional healthcare system that has served southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois communities for more than 100 yearsFroedtert South provides services primarily through the Froedtert Kenosha Hospital and the Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital and several other clinic locationsFroedtert South is an Equal Opportunity EmployerFroedtert South does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, non-disqualifying physical or mental disability, national origin, veteran status or any other basis covered by appropriate lawAll employment decisions are made on the basis of qualifications, merit, and business need.
