Department of Nursing 6E the CICU/CVICU - MSM - Req Number: 2746862 Job Title: Unit Secretary - 6E the CICU/CVICU - Full Time Days_Roles & Responsibilities:_Performs clerical and receptionist duties essential to the operation of patient care as directed and also receives instructions from physicians and nurses Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Identifies by use of the plate imprinter, the stationery (e.g., Kardex Chart Forms) and requisitions of each patient 2. Maintains up-to-date and accurate patient rosters (e.g., locator board, TPR, BP, weight book) 3. Maintains a system for tracking the location of each patient on the unit 4. Transcribes physicians’ orders and follows through appropriately in their implementation 5. Schedules with appropriate departments and/or individuals, patient appointment, treatments, diagnostic procedures, etc. 6. Maintains neat and orderly bulletin boards. Posts and removes information appropriately in order to keep data current 7. Responsible for maintenance of patients’ charts 8. Graphs appropriate data in the patients’ charts 9. Removes selected excess pages from the patients’ charts and stores properly 10. Files and/or staples laboratory and tests results into patients’ charts, (including computer print-outs) 11. Checks all patients’ charts daily for completeness, order and proper identity 12. Performs a variety of duties relating to admission, discharge and/or transfer of patients 13. Assembles medical charts, prepares bed and door tags and Kardex for admission 14. Requests from Medical Records, the old chart of re-admitted patients 15. Relays to other departments, relative information concerning admissions, transfers or discharges 16. Greets new admissions, introducing self and orienting patients to call system and physical facilities 17. Maintains an up-to-date record of all patients who are discharged, deceased or transferred 18. Assists in the maintenance of par levels of supplies and equipment 19. Assign RNs in Orchestrator as applicable P, weight book) 20.
