Department: Academic Success Job Summary/Basic Function: ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Provide support and guidance to students in the areas of retention, graduation, transfer/transition, career exploration, course selection, program navigation, financial aid, academic support, and other related student success activities. Mentors will be responsible for providing tutoring assistance. In addition, responsibilities will include providing personalized day to day monitoring and support to TRIO participants. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Answer student inquiries and connect students to existing academic support, counseling, financial aid, and career services resources. 2. Submit weekly enrollment reports to Director. 3. Develops and maintains appropriate student records and documentation. 4. Provide guidance and assistance in various areas (including, but not limited to, financial aid assistance, scholarship application assistance, and tutoring). 5. Assists with other program/institutional activities related to student enrollment as needed. 6. Tutor in various subject areas such as Math, Science and English Composition. 7. Attend staff meetings. 8. Performs all other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: EDUCATION: 1. Earned at least 48 hours of college level credit or an Associate's degree. EXPERIENCE: 1. Six months to two years' experience in educational support programming for low income, first generation and disabled students in a higher education setting. SKILLS: 1. Use of Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). 2. Typing and filing. 3. Excellent verbal and written communication. Preferred Qualifications: Special Instructions to Applicants: 1. Rate of pay is $15.00 per hour, maximum 20 hours per week; 2. Recommended hire will be subject to background check and drug test; 3.
