Job Requisition ID #19WD36855 Corporate Counsel, AMER Government and Hub Sales Location: Denver, CO, San Francisco, CA, Boston, MA, District of Columbia - United States Job ID: 19WD36855Position OverviewAs a key member of Autodesk's Legal Department, this role will be the lead lawyer responsible for overall legal support of Autodesk's sales to government customers in North America and as well as the fast growing inside sales operations in the AMER region, which comprises 150 employees in Denver (CO), a smaller hub in Atlanta (GA) and a new inside sales hub to be opened in Costa Rica to drive sales in Latin America. This role will ensure that both Autodesk's NAMER government sales team and the AMER inside sales hubs benefit from consistent and pragmatic legal advice enabling fast growth, training and legal compliance. By collaborating across teams within a matrixed environment, involving subject-matter experts as needed, this role will promote compliance and ensure transparency, timely decisions and balanced risk management.Responsibilities• Provides legal advice regarding our North America sales to federal, state and local government customers, particularly in relation to indirect sales via a 3rd party Government Aggregator • Able to field sales team inquiries regarding government required flow downs and certifications under FAR, DFAR in an indirect sales context • Provides legal advice on private sector sales and related issues for our AMER inside sales hubs • Participates in the Legal Departments Hub Sales Practice Group comprised of lawyers working on tele-sales issues globally • Collaborates with the legal direct sales team and geo-based attorneys to scale and support account-based sales opportunities through our hubs • Contributes to the maintenance of the Hub Sales Playbook and develops and implements related legal policies and procedures • Works closely with AMER inside sales leadership team and related support functions including GSSO, Finance etc • Monitors and advises on legal developments related to the areas supported • Reviews sales and marketing programs related to inside sales hubs and strategic territory sales programs • Identifies finance, operational or revenue accounting issues and liaises with the relevant functional groups (including Tax, Finance, Revenue Accounting, Global Sales and Success Operations) to resolve these • Defines repeatable processes and leverages automation to leverage synergies and enhance efficiency and productivity • Provides transactional support for non-standard sales situations in Autodesk's AMER sales hubs • In collaboration with Autodesk's Compliance and Litigation team and Autodesk leadership, develops and executes policies and procedures, develops relevant training materials and delivers trainings to new joiners and existing teams; manages implementation of annual training plan for AMER hub sales employees • Identifies and manages actual and potential inside sales-related disputes and litigation in collaboration with Autodesk's Compliance and Litigation team • Manages relationships with outside counsel as needed; manages spend in accordance with approved budgets; reviews invoices and purchase orders; is responsible for timely submission of invoices or accrual of spend within Autodesk's fiscal quarters in line with Autodesk accounting policiesMinimum Qualifications• JD from an accredited/recognized university and bar membership in good standing • 10 years of combined of law firm and/or in-house experience in government and commercial sales support • Experience with channel issues involved in commercial and government sales • Experience in inside sales / tele-sales / tele-marketing activities of high tech, Internet or media companies and knowledge of relevant inside sales issues and laws, including TCPA, DNC, PCI, call recording is a plus • Clear, concise written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interact comfortably with senior leaders • Demonstrated experience working independently and managing multiple projects at once to meet deadlines • Collaborates well in cross-functional, global diverse teams dealing with matrixed issues • Sound and practical legal judgment to help business solutions in fast-paced environment • Willing to travel, when appropriate and safe At Autodesk, we're building a diverse workplace and an inclusive culture to give more people the chance to imagine, design, and make a better world.
