Are you living your life's work?Position Description: The incumbent will serve as the department's compliance specialist, supporting Dermatopathology laboratories, Mohs laboratories and 8-10 clinical practices. The role will include rounding of clinics and labs to review and ensure standards of compliance, including training records, proficiency and competency testing documentation, appropriate licensure, and conformance to provider-based requirements as appropriate. The incumbent will work closely with and provide support to the Director of Clinical Effectiveness and Quality Improvement on risk reduction initiatives, OPPE/FPPE, Provider Performed Microscopy (PPM) and performance improvement initiatives related to quality and/or safety within Dermatology Clinics and Laboratories. The incumbent will coordinate development, revision and training for clinic and laboratory related policies and procedures, ensuring regular review and update in alignment with appropriate external standards and requirements as well as UPHS policies. This candidate should have a working knowledge of laboratory and clinical operations, performance improvement methodologies, and be a creative problem solver. The incumbent must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster cooperation in others, and effectively communicate with key project stakeholders at all levels in the organization and within/outside of the department. In collaboration with the Practice Manager and Practice Administrator, the incumbent will manage a team of Clerical Staff, including Transcriptionists, Clerks, Patient Service Associates, Lab Aide and Couriers. This position is responsible for managing all laboratory accessioning responsibilities, which include receipt of patient biopsy specimens and ensuring the chain of custody, as well as communication and reporting of all delayed, rushed and returned specimens. This position will ensure the timely reporting of Dermatopathology results to referring physicians including direct oversight of all Technical Component processing reports as well as providing support to the reading Dermatopathologists. The incumbent will identify and resolve any problems associated with sample accessioning or results reporting to ensure excellent operational performance and outstanding customer service to referring providers within Penn and from external contributing practices. The incumbent monitors the open cases list and confirms the billing list to ensure efficiency and appropriate collection of revenues, providing guidance and oversight to the Practice Manager. The incumbent has direct oversight of the Dermatopathology laboratory administrative team as well as the compliance related activities and projects, with indirect oversight of the Dermatopathology clinical services and patient registration teams.Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree Health Care Management, Administration, Science or Business 5+ years 5 yrs collective, relatable experience in healthcare/administration/supervision/management Or Master's Degree Health Care Management, Administration, Science or Business 2+ years relatable experience in healthcare/administration/supervision/managementAdditional Information: We believe that the best care for our patients starts with the best care for our employees.
