They will also be required to do machine assembly, debug, install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment inclusive of electrical, electronic, robotics, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems. As a member of the Plant Engineering Team, the Maintenance Machinist is required to interface and demonstrate teamwork with all departments including: Engineering (Process and Project), Operations, Logistics, Operators and the Laboratory. They will also provide input on mechanical design projects and work in an environment where the operation of more than one machine doing subsequent and simultaneous operations is expected. Here, you will make an impact by: + Leading troubleshooting, repair and fabrication for a diverse mix of equipment, components and systems. + Implementing fabrication projects and assist with improvements, methods, solutions and procedures to enhance project quality, cost and delivery. + Determining and sharing recommendations for best practice to ensure all relevant drawings, cad models, and instructions are to the latest revision prior to work commencing. + Supporting engineering and operations in the design, coordination and implementation of projects related to new equipment and modification of existing equipment and processes utilizing Mastercam, Unigraphics, and SolidWorks. + Create machinery components in a safe and competent manner following all safety and housekeeping practices and policies that meet exact specifications using a variety of machinist’s tools and appropriate measuring equipment. Also entering detailed accounting of work following the maintenance work management process, which includes utilizing maintenance management software to identify and document equipment problems and associated repair and recommendations for improvement, obtain parts, track personal labor hours and material on jobs, capture repair history, etc. Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications: + Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution. (completed and verified prior to start) + Minimum of five (5) years of combined experience in machining, tool and/or mold work in a private, public, government or military environment. + Excellent technical communication skills, both written and oral to a diverse audience with strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated examples of problem-solving skills and proficient in reading, interpreting and understanding blueprints and other documents related to the machining process. + Position requires Strong computer skills with demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products and work, on overtime, weekends and holidays as needed. + Able to work 1st shift Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: + Associates degree/Technical Diploma or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Shop Practices, or a Vocational Program certificate from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start). + Positive attitude, initiative, and ability to interact well with team members and customers. + Ability to read, interpret and document technical data, blueprints and other documents related to processes. + Ability to operate and maintain and recommend complex shop equipment. + Experience with automation assembly and controls.
