Interface with Design and Manufacturing engineering to assure deliverables are manufactured/fabricated with the correct processes to achieve the prescribed requirements.Minimum RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED and two years of post-high school education, such as technical institutes, junior colleges or equivalent on the job training. Machinist Apprenticeship10 years minimum work experience, Master Cam for Mills, a must, and Master Cam for Lathes, a plus.Basic sheet metal capabilities.Proven People and Work Organizational Skills, be able to use MS Office tools,Work in flexible rapidly changing work environment.May lift and transport objects up to 20 lbs at times Ability to drive a fork truck.Safety certifications are a help.Specific responsibilities:Ability to guide and share knowledge with a group of manual and CNC machinists, weldors, sheet metal technicians and A&P technicians.Ability to read, interpret and manufacture from First angle Projection and third Angle projection drawings. Understanding and application of GD&T in manufacturing.Ability to work in either English or metric units.Program set up and run parts that meet all drawing and quality requirements. Build sub-assemblies when needed, Complete parts assemblies including Inserts, Heli coil and threaded insert installation. Perform surface finishing processes.Ability to read and understand CNC coding supplied by the Master Cam programming package.Ability to make program changes on the fly, either in the code directly or in the Master Cam processing, to assure the most efficient run times with the best quality surface finishes.Understand and write G Code programs for smaller jobs.Understand and write post processors for CNC control differences if needed.Fully understand SFM, Speeds, Feeds, and tool selection for specific operations.Proven experience with all basic metals, plastics, and the ability to work with some exotic metals.Machining of carbon fiber and other composite materials a plus.Understand and exemplify quality work that meets all requirements, along with better than required presentation of surface finishes.Perform manual machine and sheet metal work as needed.Manual and CNC Machining of welded parts, sub-assemblies, assemblies.Manual and CNC Machining of COTS off the shelf enclosures.Basic understanding of welding process.Ability to Weld a plusCreate fixturing when needed to make parts or hold tolerances for end products.Support design engineering with mentoring, suggestions, and guidance as need to assure manufacturability and common-sense approaches to products are employed.Helping with solutions to technical issues.Support the management of the daily workflow and performance to schedule.Interface with other functional organizations to assure consistent workflow and mitigate work stoppage or bottle necks as required.Support workshare possibilities that fully utilize staffing between groups.Assure program milestones are met for the prototype machine/fabrication shop work.Support the Senior Operations Manager in planning scheduling and performing all assigned tasks.Delivery weekly progress reports to the Senior Operations Manager.Shift Requirements:No shift requirements as of this time but must be able to work in a flexible work environment including, odd hours, or off hours when deadlines are to be met.Physical RequirementsMay lift and transport objects up to 20 lbs at timesAurora Company Overview:Aurora Flight Sciences, a Boeing Company, is a leader in the development and manufacturing of advanced unmanned systems and aerospace vehicles.
