Having been in operation for over 75 years as one of the most prominent providers of behavioral healthcare treatment services, Belmont is proud to offer high quality and specialized programming options for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults who are suffering from psychiatric concerns and chemical dependency.We are currently seeking a Per Diem (PRN), Phlebotomist at Belmont Behavioral Hospital.The basic functions of the Phlebotomist are to accurately collect and process appropriate patient samples for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease and to conduct CLIA-waived medical laboratory testing.The Phlebotomist will:Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log; bringing discrepancies to the attention of unit personnel.Verifies patient by reading patient identification.Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and fingersticksMaintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures; observing isolation procedures.Collects therapeutic drug-monitoring assays by collaborating with nursing personnel to ensure appropriate drug dose to collection time.Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection; maintaining daily tallies of collections performed.Monitors glucose levels by performing bedside glucose tests; recording results; reporting results to unit nurse-manager.Maintains quality results by following department procedures and testing schedule; recording results in the quality-control log; identifying and reporting needed changesResolves unusual test orders by contacting the physician, nursing station, or reference laboratory; referring unresolved orders back to the originator for further clarification; notifying supervisor of unresolved orders.The ideal candidate will:High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an approved phlebotomy training course required. 1 year of phlebotomy experience required, preferably in a mental health setting.
