***Long-term contract***100% ONSITE in Downtown HoustonSummary:Provide business analysis and programming expertise in the analysis, design, and development of business applications. Responsibilities may include support of systems through essential services. Provide technical consulting support on project or system issues. Develop or modify application programs from detailed specifications. Code, test, debug, and document programs. Develop and maintain application interfaces, reports, conversion programs, and custom functionality. Identify conflicting business practices and integration issues, recommending alternative solutions. Discover patterns and trends through spatial mapping of data. Create "shapefiles" to merge topographical data with external data by layering external data over a topographical map. Produce maps showing the spatial distribution of various kinds of data.Develop mapping applications and tools. Convert physical maps into a digital form. Perform data munging and cleaning to convert data into its desired form. Produce reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations. Requirements: Degree in Computer Science, Geography, Surveying, Engineering or related field. Requires GIS knowledge in order to provide advanced support and expertise by analyzing spatial data with mapping software, designing maps with geographical data and other data sources, and managing a digital library of geographical maps in various file types.Proficiency with database programming languages such as SQL, R or Python. Proficiency with front end design languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and various mapping languages. Experience with mapping tools such as GeoServer.Experience with ticket management tools such as Korweb. Experience with GPS measuring tools.
