General Summary Of DutiesResponsible for providing infusion nursing care to adult and pediatric patients. Administers infusions/injections of biologics and other medications as prescribed. Responsible for all aspects of infusion center daily operations to include clinical and administrative tasks in support of infusion services. Participates as member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.SUPERVISION RECEIVEDReports to RN-Infusion Nurse ManagerResponsibilitiesDuties include but are not limited to:Monitors schedule and organizes patient flow for infusion servicesCollects patient history and provides feedback to the physicians for any concerns or issues arising between infusionsEnsures that each patient encounter is completed and documented in accordance with operational guidance and policiesHas knowledge of drug uses, dosage requirements, and safety considerations for all drugs administered in the infusion centerMaintains infusion center in compliance with defined operational guidelines and state/federal regulationsProvides patient education for prescribed medications being administered in the infusion centerCommunicates with internal/external personnel and patients as needed in a timely and efficient mannerCoordinates with supervising/prescribing providers for any concerns related to the administration of patient care servicesSupports all requests for information about patient encounters and documentation that are required for appropriate and timely coding/billing completionProvides oversight and delegation of nursing care activities delivered by unlicensed staff members as appropriateTravel between multiple sites as required for business needsContributes to department and organization quality and process improvement activities/initiativesParticipates in staff meetings and other activities as directedOther duties and/or special projects as assignedRequired Education, Skills & ExperienceMaintains a current state license to practice as a Registered Nurse, required; must provide license annually or as requestedMaintains Basic Cardiac Life Support certification, required; must provide certificate annually or as requested; ACLS certification is recommended but not requiredGraduate of an accredited school of nursing, High School Diploma or GED, required1-3 years of infusion related experience preferred.Excellent IV administration skills requiredComputer operations and the ability to work within clinic EMR is requiredAdditional Skills And ExperienceRN-Infusion Nurse must be able to:Communicate with patients, co-workers, physicians, and others in a courteous and professional manner, through the telephone, email, and in-personMaintain composure, and set a professional example at all timesWork under pressure; assess, respond, and communicate issues in a timely mannerPlan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks as delegated by UD leadershipWork and make decisions independently, based on organization guidelines/policies, laws and regulationsPHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDSAbility to work under stress. Moderate periods of sitting and computer use. Good visual acuity. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement and feel sensation to discern temperature, texture, size, and shape. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time, lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 25 pounds. Travel as business needs require.
