Position Type: Student Support Services/School NurseDate Posted: 10/4/2023Location: Hardeeville Junior/Senior High School Position Title: NURSE Responsible To: Principal Basic Function: To plan and coordinate a Pre-K- 12 program in Health Services Performance Responsibilities: Serve as the Nurse for the middle/high school. Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA protocals Perform assessments of the health needs in the schools and community, health needs of students and staff available, and health resources in the schools and community. Coordinate health services program and collaborate with administrators, licensed school nurses, staff, community agencies, and resources, local health professionals, students, and families in your school. Utilize the nursing process in response to student referrals from schools to initiate a plan of action for resolving health problems. Consult with school personnel regarding student or health-related issues. Promote optimal communication between the family, school, physician, and/or community agencies. Serve as a resource person to the classroom teacher and administrator in health instruction and as a member of the health curriculum development team designed to promote student health and well-being. Implement health education programs designed to promote health and well-being of students. Serve as a consultant to schools in the area of school entry as it relates to immunizations, health examination, proof of birth, and provide a computer information system for entering and maintaining student immunization records. Serve as a member of the review committee for students with medical needs, as requested by the Executive Director of ESSS and/or Designee. Plan and implement professional development activities in area of Health Services for each school's designated clinic staff. Act as liaison between families, school personnel, and community agencies. Plan and implement a school health record documentation system which protects the level of confidentiality required. Acquire and maintain current knowledge and competency in school nursing practice. Evaluate and make recommendations and suggestions to help create a healthy and safe school environment. Recommend and implement modifications in school programs to meet students' health needs. Recommend and implement with school administrators the development of school board policies for the school health program. Participate in recruitment and interviewing of health service personnel. Participate in the onboarding and in-servicing of new and substitute nurses. Perform other duties/tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position. Physical Requirements: Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations. Must be able to hear and understand communications through a telephone. Minimum Qualifications: Current South Carolina Registered Professional Nursing License. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Equivalent. Five (5) years of successful experience in Health School nursing. Minimum of at least 2 years of supervisory experience. Possess a current South Carolina's Driver's License and/or have access to transportation.
