Leveraging new physics field of metamaterials (which its founders are pioneers in), Neurophos is able to create spatial light modulators of unprecedented speed, density, and power-efficiency. Combing these Metasurfaces with more conventional optoelectronics unlocks a compute- in-memory optical computer that dramatically outperforms anything that exists today; and in fact, anything that trends project to exist for decades to come.  With the raising of the company's first non-stealth funding round, Neurophos is growing its team and beginning to realize it's Optical Computing Platform. Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Optomechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in optical design and a proven track record of designing complex optical systems and their packaging/housings. This person will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and testing novel optical systems that interface with metamaterial and silicon photonic devices to achieve groundbreaking advancements in AI technology. This individual will also collaborate with multifunctional engineering teams for seamless integration of the optical system with our other technologies. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development in the field of optoelectronics for AI applications.In order to make an application, simply read through the following job description and make sure to attach relevant documents.Key Responsibilities:Optical Design: Develop and optimize optical systems tailored to application requirements, utilizing software tools such as Zemax, Code V, or equivalent.Mechanical Design: Utilizing 3D CAD tools, design optical assemblies/housings that account for manufacturability and cost. Perform tolerance analysis to ensure the alignment and performance of optical components within the mechanical structures.Characterization and Testing: Prototype, test, and validate optomechanical designs, and iterate as necessary to meet performance requirements.Collaborative Design: Engage in high-level hardware design activities, collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g. mechanical, electrical & silicon photonics) to develop innovative solutions that meet project requirements and ensure integration of the optics system with the rest of the Neurophos platform.Research and Development: Stay updated on the latest advancements in silicon photonics, and related technologies, and contribute to ongoing research and development efforts within the company. Qualifications:Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.Demonstrated experience in lens design, simulation, and optimization as well as proficiency with the necessary software tools such as Zemax or Code VStrong understanding of optical principles and phenomena, including aberrations, diffraction, and polarization.Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for 3D modeling and technical drawing.Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and knowledge of manufacturing processes for optical and mechanical componentsProficiency in building and characterizing optical systems, including familiarity with alignment techniques and measurement instruments.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of innovative solutions to complex optical challenges.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with cross-functional teams.Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities, with a proactive and adaptable approach to working in dynamic environments.Additional Beneficial Skills:Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) for structural analysisFamiliarity with scientific software development and simulation, using languages such as Python, C++, or similarWhat We Offer:A key role in a cutting-edge AI hardware startup.A collaborative and innovative work environment.Competitive compensation.Opportunities for personal and professional growth in a dynamic industry.
