A Nurse Practitioner's responsibilities include helping with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations. They know there is no single solution when it comes to patient care. If you enjoy working in a collaborative environment and with all aspects of patient care, please share your past related experience along with your application.What You'll Do In The RoleProvide HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to persons at risk for HIV infectionProvide primary care and HIV specialty care for patients living with HIV infectionAIDSProvide screening and treatment for Hepatitis C and Hepatitis BProvide direct services to patients with the support of the Community Engagement SpecialistPerforms specialized assessment, diagnosis, and treatment services for persons presenting for STI screening and treatment utilizing appropriate protocols and guidelines Elicits health histories related to sexual activity and presenting symptoms (i.e., previous STI's, HIV status, potential exposure to STI through sexual contact, pregnancy, contraceptive history, allergies, contraindications to treatment, etc.)Orders appropriate immunizationsPerforms one-on-one education on specific communicable diseases to persons at high-risk for infectionsProvides information to patients regarding Hepatitis C and instructions regarding medication treatmentMeets with persons at risk for HIV infection to assess for the appropriateness of startingcontinuing PrEP; prescribes PrEP for eligible persons; meets with those on PrEP to review labs and update prescriptionEducates patients andor families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments andor medicationsAttends and presents case discussion with physicians and other providersBy working closely with the entire Medical Staff, the APRN ensures patients experience not only timely and efficient medical treatment but also the highest quality of customer serviceComplete HIV, Hep-C, and STD screenings including oral and rectal swabsDiagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, Hepatitis C and related conditionsElectronically reviews and authorizes prescription refills (when appropriate) in a timely fashionProvide coordinated, continuous and culturally competent primary health care to clients that span the health continuum through mutual goal setting and planning delivery of care.Discuss HIVHCVSTI prevention and treatment information with all clientsScreens for substance abuse, tobacco use, intimate partner violence, immunization status, nutrition and exercise as necessary and initiates appropriate interventionsEducation & Licensure Requirements:Graduate of a certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant programOhio License (NPPA), required.
