Every person matters and is truly welcome at our clinic.JOB TITLE: Physician AssistantFLSA STATUS: ExemptCOMPENSATION: $100K to $135K Competitive compensation package commensurate with experience. JOB RELATIONSHIPS: Provides patient care in collaboration or conjointly with a physician with mutually agreed upon protocols. Maintains authority over office staff as appropriate. Supervises no other personnel. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a fast paced, well lit, and comfort controlled medical office environment. High traffic area in a close environment.  Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medical preparations, and other conditions common to a center environment. Requires working under stress in emergency situations andor during irregular hours. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Ability and knowledge to perform professional primary care appropriate to physician assistant level. Knowledge of administrative policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.  Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of primary care to provide ongoing patient care. Skill in taking medical history, assessing medical condition, and interpreting findings. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. Skill in developing and maintaining administrative and patient care quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, medical staff, and public. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Possess good written and verbal communication skills. Always presents a professional image. Ability to do detailed and accurate work. Utilize time management skills. Answer telephone in a professional manner. Read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction. Recognize, evaluate, solve problems, and correct errors. Maintain productivity and work independently. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Patient Care **Responsible for providing optimal primary care. a)        Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients. Reviews patient records.b)        Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.c)        Performs a physical exam and records findings. Establishes presumptive diagnosis.d)        Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.e)        Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.f)        Administers injections, immunizations, and oral medications. Prepares written prescription orders for drugs as allowed.g)        Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.h)        Instructs patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides patient education.i)         Triage patient telephone calls and provides consultation.j)         Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.k)        Provides monitoring and continuity of care between office visits.l)         Observes sterilization guidelines.m)       Promptly completes any necessary medical record documentation, charge sheets, dictation, etc.n) Responsible for patient care through appropriate utilization of laboratory facilities and procedures.  MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:1)        Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.2)        Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.3)        Maintains patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.4)        Maintains timely, accurate, and complete patient documentation, dictation, records, and other information.5)        Maintains a clean and safe work area.6)        Assures compliance with OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard guidelines by practicing universal precautions, engineering and work controls, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, and observing housekeeping rules, etc.7)        Remains in compliance with OSHAHazardous Communication Standard guidelines and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act Standards.8)        Keeps management and physician timely informed (as appropriate).9)        Responsible for computerwork station proper use and maintenance.10)      Obtains appropriate continuing education required to maintain certification and stay       current on physician assistantprimary care.11)      Performs other duties as requested. ** Performs these duties in collaboration with a physician.
