Job Description:Job Title: CT TechJob Location: York, PAPay Rate: $21.14 to $29.60Responsibilities:Under the general supervision of the department supervisor and under the direction of the Radiologist, performs core CT radiologic procedures at a general level skill set. Performs procedures to produce computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of designated anatomical areas according to established practices and procedures.Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Accountabilities:Performs general CT Scan studies; obtains patient history, explains routine procedures, and addresses patient concerns. Prepares and maintains proper documentation as required by the profession and the department.Under the direct supervision of the physician, administers intravenous contrast media. Recognizes complications (e.g., contrast reaction) and treats appropriately.Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.Positions and transfers patients comfortably and immobilizes patients as necessary and practices radiation safety procedures.Has passed the CT specialty exam as per ARRT.If necessary, will take call to meet the needs of the department. On call requirements are defined separately by each hospital.Examination compliance: CT biopsies and drainages, core CT protocols, IV skills, trauma and stroke protocols, basic level 3D reconstruction, daily scanner QC, OR training, if applicable.Assisted Survey Readiness preparation.NonEssential Accountabilities:Appropriately segments and archives images and exams to the PACS archive.Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas andor patient rooms.Attends meetings as required.Performs other related duties as mon Expectations:Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Proficient contrast administration policy knowledgeProvides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.QualificationsNotes: Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.Minimum Experience: Entry level positionMinimum Education: Associate's DegreeRequired Certification: CT Registry required; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredRequired Courses: Accredited program in radiologic technology and training in computer tomography proceduresPhysical Demands: Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standingwalking, Lifts, positions, pushes andor transfers patients, Lifts suppliesequipment*Required Certification: CT Registry required*Basic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredThe CT Technologist is a graduate of an accredited AMA school and registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT). The CT Technologist is licensed by the state as a general radiographer and is responsible for providing timely diagnostic services to both inpatient and outpatients under the direction of a Radiologist and departmental protocols. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the performance of basic radiographic procedures, fluoroscopy, portable radiographic procedures, C-arm procedures, and OR imaging services. The CT Technologist demonstrates proficiency at routine diagnostic CT Scanning procedures including but not limited to CT of headbrain, neck, thorax, spine, abdomenpelvis extremities and biopsydrainage procedures.
