SUMMARYThe Senior Cost Analyst will collect and analyze complex financial information related to the organization's costs, seeking ways to improve accuracy of budgets and forecasts and to decrease the cost of departments and projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEnsures GAAP principles and Corporate polices on cost accounting are adhered toPrepares financial reports and various accounting statementsPosts journal entries to general ledgerMay train junior accounting staffGenerates summary sheets for use by supervisor or auditorProofs accounting reports for clerical accuracyAllocates expenditures to correct accounts according to departmental proceduresReconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banksReconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collectionsDevelops cost standards, inventory valuation methodologies, and product line profit and loss statementsDevelop monthly and annual forecasts and plansInterface with the upper level management in discussing variances and developing forecasts and plans. Supports the management of the company's product inventoryPlans study and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and laborProvides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or servicesDevelops the analytics to build forecasts and projectionsConducts market research to recommend changes to pricing or business modelsPerform other tasks as assignedSCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTSThe position requires daily contact with all levels of TECO-Westinghouse and customers including Engineering, Marketing, Factory Operations, Supply Chain, Service and Accounting.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field and at least 3 to 6 years of progressive experienceEquivalent combination of education and experienceCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSCertified Public Accountant (CPA) preferredSKILLS AND ABILITIES Effective written and oral communicationDemonstrated knowledge of intermediate-advanced ExcelExceptional analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDetail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneouslyLANGUAGE SKILLS Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
