Job Description:

Piper Maddox is partnered with a exciting solar and storage developer, operator, and owner with more than 17 years of experience and have developed more than 500MW of assets, and deployed over $1B into clean energy projects.The company is growing, (currently about 50 employees) and are looking for their first in house General Counsel. This position will be heavily focused on transactions, but will also be responsible for overseeing all legal task associated with building, owning and operating these projects. Their typical project is between 21MW - 20MW, while occasionally they've done larger projects (40MW+) when the opportunity presents itself.Job ResponsibilitiesRequirements Must have in house legal experience with 3+ years in the renewable energy or clean tech industryStructure, negotiate, draft, and review various commercial agreements including equipment supply, EPC, O&M, lease, and power purchase agreements.Lead financing of greenfield and M&A transactions, including drafting and critical review of debt and tax equity financing agreements.Manage outside local counsel and effectively partner with outside counsel to leverage subject matter expertise and manage state-specific legal and regulatory issues.Provide Senior Management with regular updates on key legal matters.We are looking for someone who has 6+ years of experience, who has previously worked in house, that can come in and be a part of their senior leadership team, and continue to scale the business.This is a high growth, high impact, high visibility opportunity, where you can help take an established and growth oriented small business to even greater heights during a phase of rapid expansion.This position in located in New Jersey New York City.
