Career Renew is recruiting for one of its clients a Research Engineer - candidates can be based in US or Canada, but able to travel to NYC at least once per month.As the first Protocol Engineer in our team, you will spearhead the research and development of our Network. Your role will be critical in shaping our protocol strategy, designing a secure and efficient mechanism, and guiding its evolution.ResponsibilitiesRefine, simulate, and define the parameters of our Network mechanism that enables hack prevention on any integrated L2Lead the decision-making on the tech stack that we will use to implement the mechanism (e.g., app-rollup vs app-chain, Cairo vs Solidity, etc.). Choose the appropriate off-the-shelf technologies that are required for the mechanismLead the implementation, maintenance, and security (e.g., audit coordination) of our protocolCollaborate with other team members to integrate our Network with existing infrastructureStay up to date on the latest developments in security and blockchain development (e.g., Foundry, etc.)Create and maintain technical documentation for internal and external useRequirementsBased in US or Canada and able to go to NYC often (min once a month)Experience researching and designing complex onchain mechanisms and onchain protocolsCryptography background mathematics background (applied maths or computer science)Experience with protocol engineering and development toolsExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to think analyticallyYou are deeply involved in the crypto spaceNice to HavePrior experience in a fast-paced startupExperience in implementing complex smart contracts with high TVLExperience in leading the Security of a protocol, including the management of audits and other OpSec activities
