We take pride in only hiring teammates who will thrive in our culture-first environment and will live and breathe our 4 core values: Celebration, Commitment, Compassion, and Continuous Improvement.What We Offer:Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and 401(k) with 4% MatchUnlimited PTOCell Phone AllowanceLaptopResponsibilities:Owner and Subcontractor Contract Maintenance:Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for Client Partners (lump sum and cost-plus contracts) and Vendor Partners (BCI standard subcontract agreement).Maintain and update Buffalo Construction's standard forms for both Client Partners and Vendor Partners.Owner and Subcontractor Contract Review:Review, evaluate, and assist in negotiation of all new Owner contracts in collaboration with Project teams and the CFO.Review existing Client Partner contracts for accuracy, assemble required documents, and circulate for signature.Handle all Vendor Partner markups to the BCI standard subcontract.Assist with Litigation Support:Work with external counsel on all litigation matters, including finding appropriate external counsel and document accumulation.Assist with Liens and Vendor Disputes:Have familiarity with lien laws and ability to research specific lien laws in all 50 states.Respond to liens within appropriate deadlines, track progress, and keep Project teams and Leadership informed of status.Subject Matter Expert for Licensing Requirements:Be the Subject Matter Expert for licensing requirements with respect to Vendor Partners in all jurisdictions where projects are undertaken or bid.Proactively educate estimation teams on licensing requirements during the bidding phase.Required Skills:Commitment to Buffalo Construction's Core Values.Ability to gain positive energy from collaborating with others.Clear communication skills, both verbally and in writing.Attention to detail.Ability to conduct professional level conversations with opposing parties.Understanding of key concepts in contract law.Ability to effectively explain complex legal concepts and documents to non-attorneys.Understanding of lien laws and various dispute resolution alternatives (arbitration, mediation, litigation).Proficiency in researching state-specific legal statutes.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field preferred.Paralegal certification preferred.Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry or legal field.Buffalo Construction is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in the workplace.
