Food Laboratory ManagerKelly Science is in immediate needs of a direct hire currently seeking a Food Laboratory Manager for one of our growing clients in Wilson NC. This position is responsible for supervising department operations with a food testing laboratory.Location: Wilson NCSalary: $65,000-$75,000yearShiftSchedule: Flexible to work a varied scheduleEssential Functions:Responsible for supervising department staffFollowing established SOP's and adhering to state, federal and other accrediting body requirements, prepare and process samples, and collect information about the composition of substances to support the analytical testing needs of clients, for such purposes as quantitative analysis, and product development Prepare necessary standards, solutions, reagents, and samples for sample analysesUtilize specialized laboratory equipment and instrumentation to process and analyze samplesPerform equipment and instrumentation set upAccurately record observations and data and basic interpretation of dataMaintain the integrity of procedures and record professional activity for peer reviewMonitor and address sample backlog issuesMaintain accurate, up to date logs, notebooks, and equipment recordsPerform necessary laboratory administrative functions such as filing paperwork, photocopying, reviewing of data, and entering data into computerized LIMSComply with and promote Safety, and Quality programsMinimum QualificationsA person with a bachelor's degree in the chemical, environmental, physical, or biological sciences, or engineering requiredExperience working in food laboratory is requiredBasic knowledge of principles, terminology, practices, techniques, and instrumentation commonly used in a laboratory setting.Ability to effectively prioritize work and manage time to meet deadlines and rush ordersComputer literacyAbility to work with delicate laboratory equipmentAbility to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formatsExperience with GC and GCMS is requiredKnowledge of EPA methodologies is required
