NexHR have been engaged to support our client with identifying a Senior Machinery Engineer. If you are interested in applying for this role, please review the job description fully and answer the screening questions listed in the application process.Please note the role could be based in Houston, TX OR Bridgewater, NJ but will involve a minimum of 25% of your time travelling.Purpose of the position:Rotating machinery (compressors, turbines, etc) and mechanical systems (refrigeration units, cooling towers, etc) are at the core of the plants my client designs and operates.This position drives all phases of machinery implementation. Estimating, specification, design, selection, inspection, review, testing, construction, commissioning, trouble shooting, repair, maintenance, and hand over.Principal Responsibilities:Responsible for execution and support of rotating machinery and auxiliary systems (lube oil systems, heat exchangers, filtration equipment, silencers, etc.). Air, nitrogen oxygen, Natural Gas and Hydrogen are most typical compression services. Responsibilities with other equipment includes pumping services with cryogenic liquids and high-pressure Boiler Feed Water.The engineer is expected to communicate and support project engineers & managers owner's engineers and suppliers on a regional basis in the specifics of machinery project execution. This includes:Ability to select and specify mechanical equipment.Provide detailed drawing review and feedback to equipment OEM'sCritical supplier design audits of major machinery to develop a full understanding of risks associated with machinery designs.Ability to follow project from specification process, through design and manufacture, construction and installation, commissioning, and resolution of field issues.Develop, plan, and implement QAQC plans related to testing of machinery.Ability to bring knowledge and experience from plant operating environment to improve best practices.Support Operations with significant operational issues of equipment and provide expert assistance in plant commissioning and troubleshooting.Support Operations on emergent rotating equipment issues and catastrophic failures. Sufficient experience is necessary to work independently without support of OEM's.Support and execute projects in multiple geographies as the business terface as needed with Production and Reliability teamsParticipate in P&ID and HAZOP reviews.Prepare and implement construction packages, QAQC certification and commissioning.QualificationsDemonstrated exceptional operational safety leadership.Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent)5 to 7 years' experience in machinery developmentdesignfabricationoperation with at least 5 years in an operational or engineering environmentBroad knowledge of centrifugal, reciprocating, and other compression equipmentKnowledgeable and experienced working with installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of compressors, pumps, fans, turbines, blowers, gearboxes, and their auxiliary systems.Knowledge of machinery controls and protection systemsExperience with Industrial Gases or petrochemical projects is a plusAbility to travel.
