Develops and posts shift schedules. Organizes and assists with staff meetings.Coordinates client care and implementation of treatment plans by nursing staff.Assists with health screening and assessment of clients' condition and aids in planning and administering client care.Checks for completeness and accuracy of patient care plans to ensure adherence to accepted standards.Evaluate the client's behavior and/or condition to update/revise the plan of care and inform physicians of any changes in clients' status and medication changes.Monitors client plan of care and evaluates client's conditions. Detects any issues that could result in injuries or other difficulties for clients or staff members and guides nursing staff through appropriate course of actionReviews client records and audits client medical charts, EMAR, and physician order transcriptions to ensure contractual and local, state, and federal regulations compliance.Train, develop, monitor, and evaluate the performance of nursing staff: participate in staff evaluation reviews.Provides input regarding individual employee evaluations, suggests competency reviews, and advises on training to educate nursing staff.Utilizes formal and informal venues, including peer consultation, mentorship, preceptor programs, unit conferences, case studies, patient rounds, and in-service programs to educate staff.Contributes to the development and implementation of procedures and processes related to client care.  Assists with the establishment of criteria for client care in the quality improvement plan.Provides patient/family education: explains discharge instructions and hands out appropriate information sheets.Monitors site medical equipment and inventory, initiates repairs, and orders medical supplies and medication.Performs other duties as assigned, including emphasis on providing direct client care.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEAn associate degree is required.  Bachelor's degree in Nursing or health-related field preferredCurrent Registered Nurse license as required by the StateThree to five (3-5) years of progressively responsible nursing experience, preferably including some supervisory experience and at least 1 year of experience in psychiatric and/or substance abuse field KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESComprehensive knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts of nursing and nursing principles in order to plan, evaluate, and provide expertise in the development, implementation, and management of an effective nursing program Working knowledge of JCAHO requirements and standardsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)High analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detailStrong organizational skillsStrong written and oral communication skillsAbility to quickly and accurately assess clients' conditionsAbility to efficiently handle emergencies and remain calm in stressful situationsA caring and sympathetic demeanor PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSSedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
