Job Description:

The Cutting Edge Independent Living & Employment Coordinator works with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as parents, student workers, and Edgewood College faculty & staff to promote inclusion within higher education. The Independent Living & Employment Coordinator ensures student needs and accommodations are met in the areas of independent living and employment. The Independent Living & Employment Coordinator also collaborates with college staff in supporting students in employment, transportation, independent living, and health & wellness.Responsibilities:Independent Living Scheduling & SupportMeets with students weekly to address student needs and supports in the area of independent livingAssists in developing student independent living, transportation, and social goals on Individualized College Plans (ICPs)Mediates interpersonal relationship concerns amongst studentsCreates and distributes resources related to independent livingIdentifies student support needs in this area (daily living skills, health & wellness, interpersonal difficulties, transportation training, etc.) and collaborates with program leadership to address these needsEmployment Scheduling & SupportMeets with students weekly to address student needs and supports in the area of employmentAssists in developing student employment goals on Individualized College Plans (ICPs)Monitor student progress throughout their on-campus internshipCreates and distributes resources related to employability and job tasksIdentifies student support needs in this area (job coaching) and collaborates with program leadership to address these needsFamily & Staff CollaborationCommunicates and collaborates with families, students, staff, faculty, and community partners to address student needs in the areas of independent living and employmentPartners with Residence Life to make housing placements and address student concerns in the residence hallsPartners with on campus employers to make internship placements and create student schedulesAssists Academic Coordinator in managing practicum placements and transportationCollaborates with program leadership to address transition needs for incoming and outgoing studentsCurriculum and InstructionMay develop curriculum for select Cutting Edge courses: EDU 91 Safety in the Community, EDU 92 Interpersonal Relationships, EDU 93 Internship, and EDU 90/100 Skills for SuccessMay deliver direct instruction throughout the school yearProvides regular feedback to students regarding their progress in these courses (when instructing)Event PlanningCollaborates with the Cutting Edge Team in planning annual events: Concluding Ceremony, Pre-College Program, Cutting Edge Retreat, Open Houses, Night Market, Student Showcase, and Peer Mentor AppreciationAttends program events as assignedOn CallAvailable to respond to urgent student matters after hours via the duty phone; schedule is created on a rotating basis amongst staffJob QualificationsNecessary Education or Work Experience: Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation Psychology, Vocational Rehabilitation, or related fieldMinimum of 3 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities in transition programs, in the community, or similar settingRequired Knowledge and Skills:Knowledge of employment accommodationsAbility to co-manage multiple student schedulesAbility to collaborate with staff and facultyExperience in administrative management of services for adult learners with disabilitiesExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skillsExcellent interpersonal communication skillsRequired Technology Skills:Ability to utilize Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to incorporate assistive technology into the programOther Qualifications:Edgewood College, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is committed to academic excellence through diversity in its faculty, staff, and students.
