This is an exciting time to be a part of our company as we grow to become the nation's leading commercial autism care provider!As an Associate Attorney, you will report to the Chief Legal Officer and oversee matters relating to employment and labor laws. The successful candidate will proactively develop policies and procedures aligning with our company goals and philosophies while mitigating risk whenever possible.What You'll DoCounsel People Experience Team on wide range of employee relations, compensation, and talent acquisition matters, including offer letters, wage and hour compliance, performance management, discipline, accommodations, and diversity and inclusionDraft and negotiate employment-related contractsCollaborate with the Chief Legal Officer to develop legal strategies in line with Company valuesPartner with our People Experience Team (HR) and business leaders to provide responsive and practical advice and guidance on employment-related mattersCollaborate with People Experience Team to proactively review employment policies to ensure legal compliance and consistency with best practices and the company's cultureLead or assist with HR-related investigationsWork with People Experience Team on hiring and performance management policies and practicesProvide harassment and discrimination prevention training to employeesAssist with all employment-related litigation matters, including administrative responses, subpoenas, discovery, and motion practicesMonitor labor and employment law developments and best practices Stay up to date on relevant state and federal employment laws in multi-state operationsProvide subject-matter expertise and training on recruiting, hiring, performance management, compensation and benefits, leaves of absence, internal investigations, terminations, and best practicesBe the first point of contact to field inquiries from People Experience Team Utilize strong judgment and instincts to determine when issues need to be escalated to avoid potential litigationAssess and advise Legal department leadership on potential employment-related risks, and think creatively about mitigation strategiesRequirementsEducation/Experience and Other RequirementsLicense to practice in Florida or approved as Authorized House Counsel in FloridaMinimum 4-6 years of experience as a practicing lawyer, with an emphasis on employment and labor law issuesJuris Doctor from an institution accredited with the American Bar AssociationMust maintain clean background/drug screenings/driving recordExpertise NeededKnowledge of behavioral health issues a plusSpanish fluency preferredLarge law firm experience preferred.Ability to work as a member of a management teamKnowledge of state and federal statutes regarding healthcare compliance, insurance regulations, and patient confidentiality lawsKnowledge of state guidelines and accreditation agency standardsMust be client-service-oriented and highly responsiveSummaryBenefitsThree weeks of paid time off (more added with tenure)Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) optionsMedical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life insuranceGenerous 401(k) with employer match up to 6% ABA Centers of America CultureABA Centers of America is determined to maintain its startup culture with a team of seasoned professionals working toward a shared vision of creating the nation's leading provider of autism care.
