Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:Position Summary:  Oversee Analytical Chemistry DepartmentResponsibilities:Oversees all technical aspects of production laboratory, case generation and R&D componentsManages R&D team and drives test developmentDirects staff in the technical and logistical development, validation and operation of LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, and HPLC-fluorescence clinical testsInteracts with clients and physicians regarding tests performed in the laboratory and describe the techniques usedDetermines the most appropriate platform for clinical testsMentors scientists in the performance of clinical tests and instrumentation including drugs of abuse, steroids, metals and therapeutic drug monitoring applicationsCoordinates with other departments on clinical test implementationCoordinates the installation of laboratory instrumentationEnsures the testing systems developed and used for each of the tests performed in the laboratory provide quality laboratory servicesEnsures the laboratory is enrolled in an approved or alternate proficiency testing program for the testing performedEnsures the establishment and maintenance of acceptable levels of analytical performance for each test systemOversees the development of the laboratory's plans and programs in evaluation of long-range planning with regard to clinical tests and regulatory actionEducation: Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry discipline required.Experience:   3-5 years of laboratory managementEnsure test development and implementation in operations is of the highest qualityDevelopment/validation of bioanalytical tests by LC-MS/MS and HPLCNYSDOH Certificate of Qualification holderSkills:  The ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.  The ability to coordinate multiple resources effectively.
