Inspired Solutions is seeking a Pathologist to play a crucial role in the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, delivering expert pathology services and ensuring the timely and accurate diagnosis of diseases. This role involves significant patient interaction and requires working closely with other medical professionals to provide high-quality care to our veterans. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of pathology, with the ability to work effectively within the unique regulatory framework of the VA healthcare system. A significant component of this role involves education and supervision of Health Profession Trainees (HPTs), fostering their professional development. This position pays $105 an hour, with $7 for on call. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform and interpret a wide range of diagnostic tests to provide accurate diagnoses for patient care. This includes analyzing body tissues, fluids, and other samples to identify abnormalities or diseases. Supervise and mentor Health Profession Trainees (HPTs), ensuring they receive quality training and meet their educational objectives. This includes evaluating their progress, providing feedback, and creating an environment conducive to learning. Effectively communicate test results and diagnoses to healthcare providers and patients, ensuring patients understand their health status and the recommended course of action. Actively participate in quality improvement activities and continuous quality improvement meetings to enhance patient care services. Maintain high standards in medical documentation, ensuring compliance with VA guidelines, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements. This includes using the VA's electronic health record system for documentation and reporting. Work closely with other medical professionals in multidisciplinary teams, and attend staff and quality improvement meetings as required. Adhere to VA and national standards for patient safety, including medication policies and infection control standards, and promptly report any patient safety incidents Manage timekeeping, invoicing, and QA/QI documentation using the VA's electronic systems. Ensure effective time management and accurate record-keeping This position emphasizes confidentiality and compliance with VA and HIPAA guidelines. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Schedule and Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. May include additional shifts based on patient care needs. Federal holidays may be observed. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory, or in the District of Columbia Board certified by the American Board of Pathology Current certifications in BLS and ACLS or equivalent Extensive experience in pathology within civilian or government healthcare systems Strong diagnostic skills, excellent communication, and the ability to mentor trainees   Inspired Solutions is an equal opportunity employer.
