Job Description:

Construction EstimatorEstablished Interiors General Contracting company seeking experienced Construction Estimator for current and anticipated new business volume.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPreparing complete quantity take-offs, analysis, estimate, and studies for all items incorporated in the assigned scope.Performing a constructability analysis through the identification of design and constructability issues.Performing value engineering by defining alternatives to the proposed scope that are more cost-efficient.Serving as liaison with subcontractors and design team (architects, engineers, consultants).Preparing detailed estimate of entire scope of assigned trades, building systems, and/or overall project cost.Preparing and assembling bids and proposals for different contract types (lump sum, GMP, Cost Plus, etc.)Analyzing all contract documents (plans, specifications, etc.) to determine any required scope that is not indicated.Analyzing existing site conditions or construction sequences, logistics and phasing requirements to determine any required scope that is not indicated.Creating Requests for Information (RFIs) and reacting to responses.Attending Scope Reconciliation Meetings with fellow Estimators to eliminate scope gaps and overlaps.Preparing scope/leveling sheets for assigned trades.Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor proposals relative to their scope of work. Determining if scope is covered and managing risk of scope gaps.Meeting with subcontractors to finalize scope.Working with operations staff and fellow Estimators to ensure that general conditions and general requirements items are properly addressed in the estimate.May work with preconstruction team in development of project or in the pursuit of new opportunities.Supervising Assistant Estimators and/or Interns as assigned, including completion of performance evaluations.QualificationsBachelor's degree plus a minimum of 9+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.Knowledge of building construction methods and materials and their characteristics, installation procedures and tolerances, systems, and trade practices.Ability to read and have a basic understanding of general contracts, subcontract documents, drawings, and specifications.Basic understanding of accounting, estimating, purchasing, and engineering principles and techniques.Proven written and verbal communication abilities; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite.Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
