Job Description:

Action Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced and compassionate dental assistant for work in corrections. You will help with preparing patients, sterilizing instruments, setting up rooms, and some dental hygiene tasks. To do well in this role you should have a dental x-ray certification and provide a great level of patient care.Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.Preparing patients for dental work.Helping with infection control by sterilizing and disinfecting instruments, setting up instrument trays, preparing materials, and assisting with dental procedures.Assisting dentists in managing medical and dental emergencies when necessary.Assisting dental hygienists with procedures when necessary.Providing great patient care.Recording treatment information in patient records.Exposing dental x-rays from dental diagnostics and caring for dental x-ray equipment.Giving patients information on dental hygiene, oral health care, and plaque control programs.Collecting and recording medical and dental histories and patient vital signs.Providing postoperative instructions as directed by the dentist.Caring for dental equipment.Forming preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts.Ordering dental supplies and maintaining dental equipment inventory.Fabricating temporary restorations and custom impressions from preliminary impressions.Minimum QualificationsLicense, Certification, Education:BLS/CPR certification is requiredHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Certification or associate degree in an accredited dental assisting program.Dental x-ray certification.High school diploma or equivalent.Completion of Dental Hygiene Program.Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.Good written and verbal communication skills.Consistently professional appearance and attitude.Able to provide great patient care.Experience: Twelve months' experience in a patient care setting, training or education in a clinical setting can supplement up to six months of this experience.RequirementsMust be 21 years of ageMust complete the onboarding and hiring process including application(s), documents, competency testing, training, background investigation(s) and drug screeningBackgrounds must be clear of any felony convictionsCertifications and Licenses including a current valid driver's licenseImmunization Records - Hep B, TB test/chest x-ray, influenza for the current season. COVID-19 vaccination is not required but is encouraged.Must maintain all required licenses, certifications, and health records.Resume with 10 full years of employment (explanation of gaps such as education is accepted)Language: Ability to read, write and communicate in the English language requiredMust have excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to assess situations to make independent, policy compliant decisionsMust have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to serve the incarcerated population with empathy, while staying objective and assertive. Must be able to work with people of diverse backgroundsPhysical RequirementsDue to the nature of facilities physical demands may vary between facilities and day to day, this is not an all-inclusive list.Must be able to see, hear and communicateMust be able to use proper body positioning and body mechanics including to Regularly stand, sit, walk, run, climb, kneel, crouch, bend, twistDexterity and fine motor function including strength, control, lifting, reaching and tool usage.Must be able to lift 20 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds infrequently, and lift or assist in lifting more than 50 pounds at times.Must possess the physical ability to successfully complete Defensive Tactics training, a required multiple day in-person training.
