Gould Medical Group, in partnership with Sutter Health, is looking for a BE/BC Internal Medicine Core Faculty/Site Director physician in Modesto, CA.Sutter Health-affiliated Gould Medical Group is a growing, approximately 400 provider multi-specialty group located about two hours east of San Francisco, California. Our communities offer quick access to the bay area as well as other hot spots such as Napa Valley, Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe. Duties of the Internal Medicine Continuity Clinic Core Faculty / Site DirectorResident Specific Supervise residents and medical students in the outpatient continuity clinicCreate an effective ambulatory practice, balancing educational, service, and patient needsDevelop processes that teach residents cost effective medicine through programs to manage pharmaceutical costs, document/code/bill correctly, consult appropriately, and time managementContinually revise and implement ambulatory curriculum by identifying and expanding ambulatory learning experiences to provide a balanced education in ambulatory medicineComplete resident and student evaluations as assigned by the program/departmentMentor resident physiciansParticipate in resident morning report on weekdays when patient care activities allowParticipate in curriculum development with the Residency programAdvises and assists in resident evaluationCompletes faculty evaluations of residents in a timely mannerEvaluate physician residents, using competency-based/milestone evaluations via direct observation and other relevant evaluation methodsRespect the ACGME limits on resident work hours, paying close attention to signs of fatigue and sleep deprivation in individuals and intervening as appropriateClinic DutiesServes as the Ambulatory Site Director for the hospital-based Internal Medicine Continuity Clinic at Sutter Memorial Medical CenterServe as general medicine attending physician of record or consultant for patients in the outpatient clinicPerform or supervise the performance of patient care services to include history-physical examinations and reports, clinic visit notes and evaluations, and similar services that are customarily performed in an outpatient general medicine clinicMake referrals for secondary and tertiary careCollaborate with other attending physicians and consultantsDocument involvement in patient care in the medical record and record charges appropriate to the level of service provided and documentedParticipate in performance improvement projectsPerform duties in a manner that complies with all applicable standards, rules, policies, and regulations of the hospital, Sutter Memorial Medical Center, Sutter Health, Joint Commission, and applicable local, state, and federal regulationsProvide medical direction and administration to ensure an adequate and qualified learning experience for the internal medicine residentsDevelop the schedule for the Clinic attending physicians Direct provider and medical care team meetingsParticipate in various administrative/clinical staff meetingsParticipates as a member of the internal medicine residency leadership teamProvide leadership and assist in efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the resident clinicServe as a member of the Clinical Competence Committee and Program Evaluation Committee and attend faculty and residency meetingsSupport and participate in scholarly activity that has an ambulatory or quality improvement focusEnsure that faculty and residents comply with all Sutter Health / Sutter Memorial Medical Center operational policies, procedures, and processes which include, but are not limited to those related to staffing, scheduling, registration, billing, collections, reporting, making hospital rounds, proper encounter documentation and codingEnsure that faculty and residents comply with procurement and capital equipment purchases process and agree to work within the framework of the standardized medical supply, equipment and office supply, formulary, medical records, clinical pathway guidelines, etc.Ensure that faculty and residents comply with all managed care policies including utilization review and monitoringParticipate in committees as assigned by the Program DirectorDevelop and provide ongoing updates to the goals and objectives related to resident rotations assigned by Program DirectorServe as faculty mentor for the resident / provide role modeling opportunities and ongoing mentorship for residentsDuties as assigned by the Program DirectorActs as supervising provider for Advanced Practice Clinicians employed by the clinic Collaborates with additional clinic leadership regarding clinic operations Qualifications of the Core Faculty MemberMust have and maintain current certification by the American Board of Internal MedicineDemonstrate a strong interest in the education of residentsDevote sufficient time to the Residency Program to fulfill their supervisory and teaching responsibilities Pursues faculty development at least annually to enhance their skills in the areas of education, quality improvement and patient safety, physician well-being, and patient care based on their practice-based learning and improvement effortsMaintain a working knowledge of the most up-to-date program specific requirementsInclude current licensure and appropriate medical staff appointmentInclude ongoing clinical activityMust demonstrate ongoing academic achievements in the specialty, including publications, the development of educational programs, or the conduct of research Be licensed to practice medicine in the state of CaliforniaHave faculty experience, leadership, organizational, and administrative qualificationsCore faculty members must be designated by the Program Director Reporting RelationshipsThe Core Faculty reports to the Program Director CompensationStarting base salary: $300,000
