PurposeManage and coordinate the design of all Substation installations and modifications. Responsible to effectively plan, organize, budget, direct, control and lead engineering, design and capital planning activities associated with expansion and refurbishment of substation facilities. Leads the development of manpower, manhour and labor cost requirements for project and monitors actuals to estimate comparisons. Responsible for performance management, mentoring and training of junior engineers. Creates and maintains productive relationships with organizations both within and external to Engineering. Must be able to balance priorities, handle multiple assignments and take decisive actionAccountabilitiesSupport Substation Operations personnel to solve detailed and complex system problems with innovative solutions.Provide technical guidance to internal and external project teams for adherence to organizational design standards and industry best practicesLead, oversee, review, and approve the work of the Substation Engineering department to ensure professional-level output of short circuit studies, relay settings, substation control drawings, and other necessary deliverablesImprove overall department performance through continuous training, detailed instruction, professional development, and purposeful motivation of Protection Engineering personnel.Organize and prioritize the work of the Substation Engineering department and assigned resources to follow projected capital project construction and in-service milestones.Develop and manage department O&M budget to approved budget levelsCollaborate with NERC Compliance department and monitor regulatory and standardizing bodies to maintain familiarity with applicable protection requirements.Lead and oversee the Substation Engineering department in root causal analysis, corrective action planning, and submission of any applicable NERC-data reporting for system events.Education and ExperienceBachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related field8+ years of electric utility substation engineering or related experienceCompensation$129,773 - $194,659 per yearLiberty considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education, training and skills, and geographic location.
