RequirementsEducation and Experience Required:Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; advanced degree preferredCertified Management Accountant (CMA) preferredMinimum five (5) year's work experience in a manufacturing environmentSignificant experience working with manufacturing teams on development and analysis of cost standardsStrong computer experience utilizing spreadsheet, word processing and database softwarePrior experience utilizing ERP software, preferably JD Edwards. SAP, BAAN, or Oracle is also acceptableAbility to plan and complete assignments within deadlinesAbility to follow complex oral and written instructionsAbility to prepare and present complex written reportsAbility to perform standardized and statistical computationsPosition Type/Expectations Of Working HoursFull time positionRegularly scheduled to work 40 hours a week, with casual over time.Must be able to work Monday - FridayPosition SummarySummaryIn-depth knowledge of cost accounting within a manufacturing company and fully understands the building of a standard cost, adept at variance analysis (e.g. PPV / MUV / Conversion Cost) and fully understand the link between manufacturing operations and costing.Specific Duties And ResponsibilitiesNew product standard cost establishment - review and approve accuracy of product structure and routing file before updating base, current and going-to costReview daily engineering changes - review and evaluate cost implications of engineering changes to routing and/or product structureOn a daily, weekly and monthly basis review, analyze and report variances -of purchase price, material usage, outside operation, labor price, labor usage/efficiency and factory overhead efficiency to Operations, Finance and Plant management and assist with corrective action planningWorking with the Controller, achieve daily visibility to manufacturing personnel (in the office & on the shop floor). Attend manufacturing production meetings; participate in manufacturing departmental staff meetings; test assumptions by observing production on the shop floor; develop relationships to ensure effective communication linesReview, analyze and report scrap and shrinkMonitor work orders - ensure completed work orders are being closed correctly and in a timely fashionPrepare monthly customer and product line contribution margin reportEnsure the operation of a robust cycle counting policy in support of maintaining a high level of inventory accuracyPlay a central role in the annual manufacturing budget process, including raw material, outside operations, standard labor and overhead rate calculationsPrepare for and successfully carry out the year-end standard cost rollCritically examine pricing structures within the business and make recommendations to protect and improve profitabilitySupport the Controller on new sales opportunities margin analysisBe a part of project teams that aim to improve performances and deliver on process improvements and cost saving initiatives
