This position is 190 days at a starting base salary of $39,593.39. The position is housed at Cossatot River Elementary School but will serve as the district nurse of record. There may be some supervisory responsibilities and traveling to other campuses within the district. CRSD operates on a 4-day school week with Mondays off. Click here to apply and find out what makes CRSD Unique, United, and Cossatot River Strong!QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed as Registered Nurse in the state of ArkansasGraduate from an accredited school of nursingMaintains current CPR certification and First Aid Training.REPORTS TO: Building PrincipalESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Applies appropriate theory as basis for decision making in nursing practiceAssist in establishing and maintaining a comprehensive school health programConsults with school administration to establish, review, and revise policy and proceduresEmergency proceduresEnsure medication administration protocolsImplement safety measures and programsOversee student/personnel health servicesAssist with health educationSupervises designated school personnel in the proper administering of first aid and medicationsAssists with in-service programs for school personnel for first aid, emergency care, and current health issuesAdheres to the district's policies and proceduresDemonstrates regular and prompt attendanceRegularly checks and maintains district AEDsEstablishes processes to identify students at risk for physical and psychosocial problems and communicates needs to other school personnelUses the data management system to plan and evaluate the comprehensive school health program to monitor the health of the school populationCollaborates with school administration and counselors in assessing and improving the social and emotional climate of schools and classroomsConducts screening programs for students at designated grade levels: vision, hearing, scoliosis, pediculosis, growth and developmentAssesses health care needs of students and familiesImplements appropriate nursing measures to meet identified health needs of studentsAdministers first aid in accordance with American Red Cross and National Association of School Nurses guidelines.Serves as a resource person for faculty, parents, students and community in health education.Presents to students in the classroom, if requested, health information which is age specific to the health and safety needs of a particular age group or specific individual group of students, to include tobacco, alcohol, drugs, and puberty educationParticipates in in-service training programs and other programs designed to promote professional growthServes as an agent in the control and prevention of communicable diseaseAuthorizes exclusion and readmission of students in connection with communicable diseases and conditionsDispenses medication according to physicians orders and school policyAppraises and identifies student health problems and encourages their correction by working with students, parents, teachers, and administratorsDevelops Individual Health Care Plans for students with health concernsProvides health counseling to students, parents and school personnelMaintains current immunization records on all studentsInterprets medical reports and contacts physicians for clarification of the students' medical needs while at schoolActs as liaison between physician and community agencies for illnesses and social problems that affect attendance at schoolInterprets school health policies to parents and others in the communityOversee the district's wellness program ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Regularly monitor district email for pertinent communication and timely responses.Submit all data and information as requested.Attend meetings as scheduled by supervisors and district administrators.Complete requested paperwork.Be proficient with and have the ability to adapt to basic workplace technologyPrioritize safety by, among other things, ensuring that all doors and windows are appropriately locked.Maintain awareness and understanding of the district's crisis management plan.
