OverviewThe position is with the Structured Trade & Commodity Finance group, part of the Global Trade Finance department. The main role of the person is to represent STCF on all structured trade related opportunities coming from existing and new clients in the US and Latin American. The person will lead the process from origination and structuring, in collaboration with the coverage areas.Responsibilities- Responsible for the strategic development of the structured trade finance business- Key driver for the growth of the business and add to STCF's overall value proposition in terms of revenue and profitability contributions- Take ownership over deal selection criteria with focus on ESG and O&D in line with management's strategic direction and coverage areas- Main contact to coverage bankers on structured trade solutions; assume deal team leadership- Coordinate client approach with relationship manager, incl. pitch, negotiation and execution of transactions- Lead the internal process to obtain management support, manage client expectations and obtain early feedback from key stakeholders- Coordinate risk appetite and quality of portfolio with coverage areas while balancing healthy risk-reward aspirations for the business- Focus on delivering value-add on best usage of capital and balance sheet- Enforce compliance with internal policies and guidelines among the team and make sure that the business is run with integrity and efficiently- Act as the primary mentor to junior staff on topics related to the structured nature of STCF's business- Collaborate cross-regionally with colleagues to build synergies, visibility and transparency- Support STCF's group head and other teams, as neededQualificationsMin. of 7 years of experience in structured trade finance and commoditiesExcellent understanding of the US and Latin America commodity marketsDeep knowledge in trade finance products and structured solutions, in particularStrong writing and presentation skillsExcellent communicator with clients and internal stakeholdersSpanishPortuguese speaker preferredTeam playerSMBC's employees participate in a hybrid workforce model that provides employees with an opportunity to work from home, as well as, from an SMBC office.
