POSITION: Materials Manager STATUS: Exempt (salary)REPORTS TO: Plant Manager DATE: April 2024DIRECT REPORTS: Receiving, Forklift Drivers, LOCATION: Hartford, WIStockroom, Material HandlersPOSITION SUMMARY:The Materials Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of material flow and to maintain control and accuracy over all goods inventory, including transactions, planning, warehousing, and receiving of raw materials. Primary focus shall be related to aluminum inventory plan, ordering schedule, internal materials storage plan supporting an everchanging production plan.FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide excellent leadership and guidance to all direct reports including, but not limited to, setting expectations, performance management, training, and schedulingInventory:Maintain accurate records and accounting of all inventoried materials: raw components; outsourced subassemblies; OEM products; finished goodsManage and supervise all inventory staff (receiving, stockroom, assigned forklift operators)Ensure all inventoried materials are kept secure, and organizedTimely and accurate picking and kitting for production of subassemblies, assemblies, and finished goodsTimely stocking of all inbound inventory materialsManage regular inventory cycle counts and identify and rectify all discrepancies (shortages, overages, incorrect parts)Routinely develops and implements inventory strategies that improve on time delivery.Accurate generation and filing of all required receiving documents on daily basis as well as capturing internal inventory movement.Ensure all purchasing, inventory, and materials transactions are accurately recorded in the company's Inventory SystemProactively identify and rectify errors, omissions, and inaccuracies of data in Inventory SystemProactively improve andor create procedures for efficient and smooth operation of the materials flow and consumption during production processEnsure the effective and correct utilization of Inventory System by all staff in the Materials group and provide training as neededImplement and follow established best practice procedures on incoming materials related to inspectionsCoordinate, with the assistance of the Engineering department, the transition to manufacturing of new products and changes to existing products in relation to materials requirements that are aligned with seasonal product demandDevelops improved reporting to drive the overall management of both planning and warehousingREQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS5 or more years of Materials Management experienceExpert experience with MRP and WarehouseInventory software in a manufacturing environmentAPICS CPIM certification preferredBachelor's degree in Business, Operations or Supply Chain preferredLean training preferredAdvanced knowledge of MS Excel.Excellent written and verbal communication skillsSelf-motivated manager who enjoys challenges and working in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment.EOE
