Job Title: Docket Specialist Location: Chicago, IL Industry: Legal Services Pay: $50,000 - $70,000About Our Client: Our client, a leading legal services provider, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented individual to join their team as a Docket Specialist. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the daily operations of a full-service Docket and Court Services Department.Job Description: As a Docket Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting litigation attorneys by managing the filing, serving, and retrieval of court documents, as well as ensuring accurate calendaring of relevant court dates and deadlines. Additionally, you will provide procedural advice to attorneys and staff, contributing to the efficient functioning of the legal team.Key Responsibilities:Provide comprehensive docket and court services support to litigation attorneys, including research, retrieval, and submission of legal documents.Ensure timely and accurate completion of all assigned docketing and calendaring tasks.Perform electronic court filings for various courts and government agencies.Assist with procedural research assignments and other administrative projects.Coordinate the issuance and service of summons and subpoenas.Collaborate with external vendors to obtain necessary docket sheets and pleadings.Offer procedural guidance and address inquiries from attorneys and support staff.Stay updated on court procedures and rule changes to ensure compliance.Enter upcoming court dates and related documents into the automated docketing system.Monitor and review incoming court documents for relevant dates and deadlines.Notify attorneys of filing deadlines and court appearances in a timely manner.Maintain accurate docketcalendar records for litigation teams.Handle additional duties as assigned.Qualifications:Minimum 5 years of combined experience in litigation, preferably as a docketlaw clerk or attorneylaw student.Strong familiarity with federal and state courts and associated rules.Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or equivalent work experience.Previous experience in a law firm environment is advantageous.Familiarity with rules-based calendaring software (e.g., CompuLaw, eDockets, ProLaw).Knowledge of electronic filing systems and civil procedure.
