LOCATION: Chelsea, MI Sheridan MI has operated in Chelsea, Michigan, for more than 70 years of service to the book publishing industry. JOB SUMMARY: Read and understand work order verifying correct substrate, bind type, ink color, and run lengths. Learn to interpret the information on the work order and its contents. Follow daily running order provided by Scheduling Team. Communicate with Supervisor and Scheduling Team as needed. Set up machine and perform quality printing and folding of text and halftone work. Maintain high throughput by performing quick and efficient make-readies, job changeovers and folder changeovers. Inspect for quality defects ensuring quality standards are achieved. Maintain accurate data collections. Understand substrate - weights, PPI, size, grain direction, coating, marking and storage. Oversee all segments of press operation. Ensure bundles conform to bindery needs including proper identification. Be sure all waste is disposed of properly including printed and blank substrate, inks, and fountain solution. Perform preventative maintenance, general cleaning and upkeep of machine and auxiliary equipment. Provide training to Assistant in machine operation and safety; ensure Assistant performs duties as necessary. Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs to machine and auxiliary equipment. Assist maintenance personnel with machine repair. Exercise initiative, ask questions and look for ways of improving productivity. Keep area safe and clean. Adequately communicate with oncoming shift Perform end of shift duties leaving area ready for oncoming shift. Other duties as assigned BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: High school Diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience. One year of printing experience.  Ability to read and comprehend instructions. Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, workplace and safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Basic math skills, add subtract, and ability to use a measuring device.  Basic problem-solving skills.  DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: "¯Ability to work with the following software packages or programs: Microsoft Office, Flex, PrintStream, CIP3 at beginning level  Effective email and electronic communication skills are required  Ability to work with the following tools or machinery Pallet jack  Paper Turning Disc  Knives: razor, hand, slab-off skives  Pallet wrap holder  Vacuum lift  Plate bender  Plate carts  Hand tools  Grease guns/ air hose nozzles  Shaft handling cart  "¯ PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently, 20lbs constantly   Constantly be able to work in the work activities Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another,   Communicating with others to exchange information,   Operating machine and/or power tools  Work in noisy environments  Occasionally be able to do the listed activities Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like   Moving self in different position to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight spaces  Remain in stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods   Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 lbs. in all directions  Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers   Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned  Work in high temperatures, small and/or enclosed spaces  SCHEDULE IS MONDAY TO FRIDAY, 3rd SHIFT: 11 PM - 7 AM Overtime pays time and a half after 40 hours per week  3rd shift pays an extra 8% on hours worked What's in it for YOU?
