Reporting to the embedded Engineering Manager, the primary purpose of the electrical production engineer II will be to oversee the manufacturing and assembly processes for our embedded product lines. This position will act as the process engineer overseeing all technical aspects of our surface mount (SMT) production line, though hole production line(THT), printed circuit board (PCB) rework, and final assembly. This will include programming the machinery, maintaining equipment, setting up/maintaining a training program, performing rework soldering, keeping production running, and being the technical & quality expert across the entire process.The SMT process engineer will also be heavily involved with new product development and tasked with taking products from design to production. This will include maintaining inventory levels, documentation per build and creating test fixtures / production aid design and construction.This position will be part of a small team and will need to take on both technical and hands on roles within the production team.Essential duties & responsibilities:Be the SMT (Surface Mount Technology) /THT (Through Hole Technology) /Final Assembly process expertResolve production problems and line down situationsOperate and program SMT equipment as neededCreate and maintain work and test instructionsBe the go-to resource for soldering within the companyTrain production employeesWork with engineering to create and maintain policies and procedures related to the production areaMaintain inventory area organizationPerform routine maintenance on production equipment and machineryTroubleshoot failed PCB assemblies and production equipment as neededLead product repair processPerform PCB rework soldering as neededMaintain PCB and assembly test programsWork with engineering to construct and maintain production aids and test fixturesPerforms other duties as assigned.Experience & skills:Engineering Degree from accredited college or equivalent work experience (4 years) plus 4 years experience working in an printed circuit board/electronics assembly facilityKnowledge of surface mount assembly process and major process stepsPrior experience working with a SMT assembly line preferredPrior PCB (THT, SMT) soldering experienceSmall pitch part PCB soldering preferred (0402, QFN, QFP)Experience troubleshooting electronics and PCBsCapable of reading a PCB schematicKnowledge of SMT chip packagingSelf-motivated with a strong desire to succeed and ability to work well with others as well as working independentlyCapable of resolving technical challenges and learning new technologies/methodologies with little assistanceFlexible to effectively adapt to changing conditions and job assignmentsMuncie Power Products is committed to providing exceptional products and customer service to all of our internal and external customers.
